PLA plus
Added 2018-08-28 06:10:21 +0000 UTCQuick update as it’s been a little while since I posted. Just testing PLA plus, on paper it looks like the ‘droids we’re looking for’ prints like PLA with no warping, stronger and more flexible than both PLA and ABS! ( apparently 10 times stronger than ABS.. hmm) and doesn’t warp / ‘melt’ at low temps once printed. Glues with Superglue.. so looks superb!! and ideal for the single dome prints. Just printing a foot shell to see how it stands up. I’m using Sunlu, but esun and many others make similar material. On the design front, working on a project which I’ll share in a couple of months (secret :-), continuing to release single domes and working on ring 2 of the single print body. Finally work continues on the centre lift mechanism, I’ve got it working now with the Arduino drive, it’s very strong but does need reducing in size slightly, but overall looking good.

Happy printing,

Mike,

Hello Mike, new user here. Trying to get your files for R2 to my solvo 01 pro. Any videos on how to select and drop onto removable SD card?

2020-06-24 17:57:36 +0000 UTCHello Mike. new supporter here. i have been printing the body sections of the R2MKIII. I am interested in which dome files I need. The simplified looking dome found here: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21ADKfrqUz55r3P7E&id=E84CB8FD47152532%2143959&cid=E84CB8FD47152532 has three pieces. Do I need all three?
2020-06-24 17:50:24 +0000 UTCHi Michael - do you have a source / brand for PLA+ in the UK? I grab my PLA from either 3dfilament or 3DQF but neither stock PLA+ atm.
2020-04-03 13:33:28 +0000 UTCIt’s a few years :-) yes I’ve had no issues with PLA+, love it. Keep them away from extremely hot places but no issues.

2020-03-13 17:01:32 +0000 UTCHello Mike. Looks like it's been a few years, I was wondering what your conclusion is on PLA+ at this point? I have printed the dome in PLA+ and was thinking about switching to PETG for the body, but I like how this pla+ is working out so far. Should I do the body in PLA+?
2020-03-13 16:55:36 +0000 UTC3D Gloop is an adhesive, that chemically welds parts together, it is a solvent and an acitvator, holds much stronger that super glue, but it is kind of expensive. They have a formula for PLA and PETG, they also have abs, but not sure if they are going to continue to carry it

2018-08-28 20:34:02 +0000 UTCmy whole droid is in 3dfillies pla+ so far amazing stuff!!
2018-08-28 14:00:19 +0000 UTCThat is what I have been using. For gluing, use a 3D pen and weld where you can, it makes stronger bonds than super glue. In Australia 3dfillies PLA+ is extremely strong, and prints beautifully.

2018-08-28 06:50:26 +0000 UTCThis is great to hear! I've been wanting to make a purchase of filament this week. How does it compare to high temp pla?
2018-08-28 06:26:24 +0000 UTCI've been using it for a couple of years now, it is most definitely a stronger material but I find it absorbs moisture much faster than PLA

2018-08-28 06:23:16 +0000 UTCGlad you checked out the PLA+ . I’m gradually fazing out my regular pla and replacing it the the plus now.
