Legs, 36 degrees and hubs..

R2D2 constantly challenges the design skills, trying to puzzle out various problems and trying to fit everything into such a small place. This weekend has been about 6 hours of designing the legs, getting the foot locks to work. R2s legs go 36 degrees back, the body leans 18 degrees and the feet have to move 18 degrees. This is done with a rod from the shoulder to the foot. It was a design flaw on the first printed droid which I never really fixed. So this time about I want to get it perfect. Looking good so far, also the shoulder hubs are quite deep do have to puzzle that one out. . Anyhow think we've made a good start. It will be a couple of weeks before I will have the final (tested) design to share. The legs have two length options also, a longer one for 2-3-2 more so the battery boxes don't hit the skirt (as I found in version 1). It's always the slowest part of the design to accommodate all this. I will be releasing both 2-3-2 legs and fixed. Hopefully the same leg will work for both.
