Added 2024-08-01 20:07:33 +0000 UTCI was thinking about creating a list of 18-year-old characters (with pics included, of course) so you don’t have to google the most popular ones that are obvious but maybe you don’t know they are 18. Of course, lolis are excluded—I will never do those. They look like children, and I don’t accept the argument that they are a 2000-year-old dragon; it’s stupid IMO.
I have always been transparent that I depict ALL the fictional characters as if they were aged up. I never portray them as minors or children. I even prompt it that way when I generate my art, including “child” and “loli” in negatives and “mature female” in positives, and I even use the age slider! I know, it’s a lot, and they are fictional, but it must be an upheld standard.
Of course, some people look 15 when they are 18 even in real life, so it’s rather hard, but I try my best.
There is a lot of controversy on Patreon about this, with accounts being banned for using anime characters in NSFW content. I understand Patreon wants to protect minors, even though they are fictional, but anime often has a sweet and innocent style with petite characters who look young even when they are 18 y.o. So, I’m not sure how they decide this. Obviously, lolis are excluded from what I am describing, I mean middle & late teen look which is typical even for characters older than 20 years old.
The problem is that people in Asia prefer an innocent, sweet look, and they often look fairly young even in real life when they are of legal age. This is the preferred look, so they often portray the characters that way too. Again, teen-looking characters don’t hurt anyone, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Also for NSFW commissions, I only accept characters that become at least 18 y.o. by the end of the anime, so I portray them with that in mind and with that particular look.
