Time to vote (sorry for repost)

 It's time to vote

Sorry for posting this again, I forgot to add one of the picks to the poll. And sorry for reposting this yet again, patreon did a fug up where it demands that you click an extra box to ensure everyone votes only once. This post will stay up!

Also, the Baltics and balkans are two different things, some seem to have confused them.

Unfortunately only a hand full of 50$ dollar patreons came forward to make picks for this poll. One of them DMd me, which.... makes me fear I may have overlooked some picks as I frequently get swarmed in DMs and often overlook things because of that.

Either way. Monday is coming to a close, so it is time for you to vote. Here are the topics picked for you:

Bananas and Republics

A summary of the political and geographic difficulties plaguing Central America. And how it's countries found themselves crushed by American interests, geographic difficulties, economic failure, and dictatorships. But also contrast the failures of many Central American states with the successes of Costa Rica.

French Attachments

A video on how deeply France is tied into West African economies which are deeply dependent upon France. From mining industries, troop deployments, coups, and currencies. From Côte D'ivoire, to Cameroon, to Central Africa.

Baltic Squabbles

A video about the current conflicts between Sweden, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Russia. There will be an overview of historic conflicts and developments. From the formation of baltic states, Viking settlements, the winter war, the Swedish Empire, Russian imperialism, Nationalism, and the Soviet Empire to today. As well as an overview of how these past interests are represented in today's conflicts.

The Chad Chad

A video about the conflict arch stretching through Chad, Sudan, the Central Afican Republic and Uganda. And how Chad, eventhough an unlikely nation to do so, is increasingly building regional hegemony over central Africa.

Los Ladrones. The Myth of the Caudillo.

In the Venezuela video, which I am sure to make, I will be touching on the myth of the benevolent communist tyrant, to point out that "temporary communist tyranny" to smooth out social inequality only leaves behind enormous damage. And because I am doing this, I believe it is only right to tackle the other big popular myth of Latin American politics. The lie of the benevolent right-wing dictator who brings economic success. From Pinochet in Chile, to Videla in Argentina, to Stroessner in Paraguay, to the various crooked and thieving colonels and generals that ruled Brazil and Guatemala, but also far away from Latin America with Francisco Franco in Spain. I would like to make a video breaking with the myth of the "caudillo". The Right-wing strong man who brings economic stability. This myth is in particular popular amongst many conservatives in the U.S and Europe. And I would like to show just how much damage these people did to their own countries, not just in lives lost, but in the destruction of economic opportunities and leaving behind legacies of totalitarian government institutions.

American Cultures: The Origins of Political divides in the U.S

This would be different, a series of 15 to 25 minute long videos that in total would add up to 2 hours of content. The topic would be to try and disect and disprove the notion of the American political binary of “blue state & red state” and “north & south”.

I would like to explore the founding stories of several prominent U.S states, and the immigrant and settlement cultures, as well as ideological and political and colonial motivations that lead to their creations. And how these cultural frameworks created the modern political and social divides of the United States.

So much is widely discussed about fascism and yet so little about the Spanish one, by far the longest lived of them. Even I don't know the facts about it and I'm from Spain

Very happy with any of these topics but for the American one. There is plenty material that covers the USA. Your talent would be better employed to shine light is lesser known issues such as France's African affairs and Latin American geopolitics.

Great topics. I was hoping for a shift from Eurasia towards the Americas for a change but maybe another time. Also do you have a process for proposals, Kraut?

What are the disadvantages of the Swiss government? 25% of all people on Switzerland are migrants, it is one of the most peaceful and safest countries on earth, per capita Swiss are some of the richest on the planet...

Oh my god! This could be the first time I've voted in a majority! I'm so happy! 😍

Frederic Tyrel Broadbent

Authentic not necessarily meaning effective or fair...

yes, but Ireland is a long term series like the turkey one. and since the next long series has already been voted on, you will have to wait for that one to be finished before another vote takes place

Kraut

What about the video on Switzerlands form of direct democracy? And the reasons why it is the only authentic democracy in the world

whatever it's bouta be, ik joe's content wont disappoint

This is just horrible. I’m completely stuck between the west Africa and France one alongside the ladrones one. On one hand I’ve been super interested in the west African French dynamic for a while and having Kruat make a video on it would basically put that to rest but on the other hand I have heritage in Brazil and am extremely interested in the military rule for those 20 years that I hear about every so often. Brilliant topics all around though. And I love bananas and republics as a name.

Enzo

I think there was a relatively good video (not quite your standard) but good enough on the Banana republics. The American Cultures, Los Ladrones and French Attachment seem all interesting to me. American Cultures would be a good topic for another election cycle I guess while it's a bit late for the current one.

Han Pol

All these sound really interesting, do you still have any interest in making videos on ireland, I'm from northern Ireland and would love to see it

Are you going to make a video about the former Yugoslavia?

The Chad Chad sounds interesting I know nothing about central Africa but I voted french attachment I want to know why France still dapples in imperialism

oh damn.... I just mistakenly voted myself while checking the percentages. Sorry. I am not going to repost the poll again. At the end of the poll I will have to do the calculations and remove the vote I mistakenly gave.
