“In my own family, and in the families of friends and loved ones, I have noticed a pattern of separation between children who have actually matured, individuated, and their parents. It seems even more exacerbated in these polarized times. Does becoming oneself authentically necessarily cause a rupture with ones' birth family? Is it the state of our culture, lack of mentoring across all ages? Why does becoming healthy seem to cause a deep wound? Ideas on how to repair this?”
