The ant’s potentially represent the industrious side of our psyche that methodically, and, bit by bit, disseminate something large, comparatively, and move it to another location. The idea of the “kitchen” jumped out at me. It is in the book of symbols and it literally represents a place of preparation of nourishment but also represents a place of frivolity. It also states that the kitchen, where one prepares a meal of nourishment, one can also inadvertently prepare something poisonous to the body or, symbolically the mind or psyche. I found this seemingly simple dream to be full of rich messages. The ripe fruit can represent untended thoughts, ideas or even situations that in their wholeness seem to large to tackle. The ants appear to show that bit by bit that these tasks that require proper preparation can be slowly dissected in small manageable pieces. The ripe fruit can also represent something that has gone unacknowledged, or, untended for too long and, being in the kitchen could taint other nourishing meals that are or will, be prepared. Back to the idea of the “kitchen” the “Book of Symbols” say it also represents “a magnet and hub for the convergence of energies: talk, argument, play, gossip, laughter, creativity and nourishment.” What a wonderful representation of mind where one can formulate amazing plans for action, or, merely burn up psychic energy to no good end.
