Changing Our Workflow

It’s part of our friendship that I love — that they are optimistic and up-beat and willing to go with me on a fun adventure. None of us had ever done anything like this before, but we all know we wanted to give it a try.
We started brainstorming ideas and discussing possible ways to manage the logistics. We wanted to try to record in person both because it would give us an opportunity to spend more time together and because we wanted to allow the chemistry among us to become part of the show. Since the show launched, we have gathered six times to record batches of shows. Recording days are very full, as we try to record as many episodes as possible, but we also make time to reconnect.
Although we love recording in person, we also realized that, given how far flung and busy we all are, we can’t manage to record all of episodes that way. In the fall of 2018, we experimented with recording remotely using a service called Zencastr. We were skeptical as to whether we would feel happy with the product, but were surprised with the quality of the end result. We’ve now begun recording one episode each week using this method, though we still look forward to getting together several times a year to enjoy each other’s company and record shows together in person.
