Ever since I started learning Ren'Py and code in general, I used the recommended Atom editor for coding. It was my goto editor when I wanted to work on my projects. But almost a year ago, I read this:
On June 8, 2022, GitHub announced shutdown of Atom development and archival of all development repositories of Atom by December 15, 2022
Call me a creature of habit, I was hesitant to try alternatives especially in mid project while the clock is ticking. So I kept on working on it, since it didn't seem to have any problems.
Then a week ago, almost right after v0.55 release, it died on me! Asking in dev forums and Ren'Py docs, I found out the necessary steps to follow.
First I upgraded Ren'Py to 7.6.1 and then I finally downloaded Visual Studio Code. I kept my fingers crossed, said my prayers and I loaded my project. Thankfully, not only did it work perfectly but also VSC is fancier and very similar to Atom.
Long story short, after a day or two, I was back on saddle.
Meanwhile I draw some new poses of Rita, I hope you like.
