Yes, it did exist! On the plus side, there is another trick that Teller did which I absolutely adored, as did all of the eight-year-old kids in the audience. You might think of it as a stripped down kids oriented version of shadows. They set up a screen and a spotlight and teller would put his hands in the spotlight and make shadows you know, puppy dog and all that stuff and all the things that you’ve seen at summer camp. It started out really really simple things that we all can do, and then it got very, very complicated and you were amazed what he could do with his fingers. and then it got so incredibly complicated that your eyes wandered back to teller’s actual hands, and you realized he was using at that stage elaborate black hanging pieces of cardboard or something that was making amazing patterns on the screen, but that was not his hands and his fingers doing anything anymore. The kids in the audience — you know, the kids who love to scream out at mistakes for sucker tricks? Those kids were absolutely rolling in the aisles. They loved that aspect of it, but I loved it too.

I remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid and I think they exposed how it was done as well but I’ve never seen it mentioned anywhere and I’ve been unable to find video of it. Amazing. It really existed!
