I remember those boxes, they were so coarse to touch

My granny used a round tin to hold her handkerchief edge lace yarn (does this phrase makes sense?) and only years later I realized it was a wafer tin, because it was in foreign language and some kind of abstract design.
Don't remember any cookies sold in tins, during Soviet times. It was always some kind of cardboard box that looked as if it would be called 'soggy' if ever there would be a drop of water on it.

It's really like that. As a child it was always frustrating when I went to my grandma's sewing room and there were these kinds of tin and there were no cookies in them. But I also use the tins to keep my craft leftovers. Bugger me. How times change. I'm getting old.
