Martial Techniques and More

An Elegant Solution for Martials We all know that Martials in D&D 5e need some love, as with each new rulebook added, there is often more spells and more features that benefit the spellcasters, but not a ton is added for the martials, and as such, sometimes they can feel underwhelming. This product seeks to help amend this by adding in Martial Techniques! 45 Martial Techniques! This may not be the end all, be all solution for all Martial problems, however Martial Techniques work as alternatives for magic items for martial players! Instead of a +1 sword, you can offer your player a new moveset that they can utilize in every combat; that can offer a minor or major change in playstyle! Designed as miniature battlemaster maneuvers, these techniques often come with little downsides to damage or accuracy; in exchange for higher damage or unique benefits like shoving from far away with a mighty bellow, or thrusting outwards to pierce shields and deal more damage! A Tangible Reward for Making Allies Although plundering a dragon’s hoard is certainly exciting as one often relishes the opportunity to nab artifacts of ancient renown, sometimes it may feel less engaging to make allies rather than plunder a dungeon. Making allies sometimes feels disconnected from the mechanical play of combat in future sessions, as they cannot offer much other than perhaps a small magic item or potion. However, not only do these techniques act as alternatives to magical items, but they must be learned from someone who knows these techniques or acquired through ancient knowledge. Through techniques, you can offer branching paths for allies and enemies, and reward your players with new techniques for becoming friends and allies with the people in your world; thusly rewarding and encouraging players with a mechanical benefit for making allies and impacting the world! Martial, Primal, Esoteric, and Spellsword Techniques! And not all of these techniques are strictly magical! Instead they are separated into four categories: Martial, Primal, Esoteric and Spellsword! Each category representing a different kind of technique that can be used by martial characters. Martial represents techniques that can be achieved through expert stances and a tactician's mind, and do not require the aid of magic! Primal represents techniques that begin to push past normal mortal capabilities; where a character can slam the ground and cause shockwaves to knock their enemies prone or bellow with such intensity that it pushes back and startles their foes. Esoteric represents techniques that are steeped in dark forces, utilizing hemomancy and necromancy to alter the will and blood of those around you in combination with the flurry of steel. And lastly Spellsword represents techniques to be used alongside the casting of spells, to add more to a spellblade's arsenal! Spellblades are always difficult to make in D&D, but these techniques do not replace spells nor actions, and instead are new ways that you can attack and maneuver the battlefield with more magical flair.
