A Setting Agnostic Supplement for Vampires
We all know vampires; a monster archetype and a story almost as undying and immortal as the creature itself! But vampires in D&D 5e sometimes can be lacking in terms of their abilities, combat prowess, and just general creativity. Although they do pull on the specifics of vampire mythos, for the purposes of a D&D game, there isn’t too much to go off of, let alone base a campaign on!
This supplement fixes such an issue by asking questions such as; “What kind of person in a fantasy world would become a vampire? Why would they become a vampire? What magic would a vampire develop given decades of immortality? What magical items and artifacts would vampires develop? How could a player become a vampire, and how could that experience be interesting?” All of these questions (and more) have been answered in Vampires Rising; filled to the brim with vampiric content!
New Dangerous Vampires!
The Vampires that exist in the Monster Manual only allow for a specific party of a specific level of a specific kind of play to be fought. This supplement deepens vampire encounters by adding in 10 brand new vampires from a lowly CR of 3 to a deranged sommelier vampire of CR 12! With more interesting abilities and lore than the tools the traditional vampire gives, this will ensure that a vampire-themed campaign or one-shot will have vampire monsters to populate your encounters; regardless of the level of the players!
Become a Vampire as a Player!
If you’re anything like me, and have dreamed of being the incredibly fast, bloodthirsty, and strong vampire; then look no further as this supplement is not only a dream for DM’s, but also has an alternate ruling for players to become vampires too! And as opposed to a single note on the side (like Lycanthropy), becoming a vampire unlocks new options for a character with 15 brand new vampire-exclusive feats alongside 7 new subclasses for vampire player characters (or player characters influenced BY vampires)!
A New Branch of Vampiric Magic!
Rather than just inflate the spell list further, Vampiric Magic is quite different. Developed by vampires that utilize the substance that they so crave to better manipulate and destroy their greatest enemies (and food), Vampiric Magic spells are designed intentionally to be more powerful than traditional spells of their level. This is not realized through radically increased damage numbers, but instead its ability to grow even more empowered and have additional effects when empowered by Blood, either through collected conduits, or when the target of the spell is Bloodied (half of their total hit points)! Due to this, Vampiric Magic is meant to be given as a reward to characters, and not designed to be available to characters when they choose spells initially. Instead, there are rules inside this supplement that showcase how to learn Vampiric Magic spells, through ancient scrolls, forbidden knowledge, NPC contacts, or stolen spellbooks! And they are not only for Wizards or 14th level characters, as there are 30 new Vampiric Magic spells ranging from cantrips to 6th level spells that appear across the various spell lists from Bards to Wizards to Sorcerers to Warlocks!
