Some of the petals are just baaaarely starting to whither and fall off.

It’s fun to spot just a peek of the green nub at the center of the flower that’s going to be come a little lemon fruit baby.

Lemon zygote!

Lemony’s positioning in my home studio.

That green swell at the base of that vaguely suggestive stigma* is, in fact, what will grow to become a lemon.
*I thought that long bit that protrudes out of the center of a flower is a “stamen”, but it turns out it is a “stigma” -which is an even funnier combination of words, considering how ambiently erotic it looks in the first place.

Stigma, style, ovary, filaments and anthers, oh my!

Everyday I collect more withered flower heads that have fallen around Lemony’s pot. Entire clusters have disappeared leaving nothing but the leaves that served as their backdrop. More and more little green and yellow pistils stand out nude without their petals and I’m making my guesses about which will hang on long enough to swell up into little fat lemons for me.
