[Progress Report]: 1st of December

 Hey everyone,

Early, right?

I'm finally feeling comfortably in my old skin again, and right as crunch week dawns! Above you'll see a render from the latest event in the Rainy Day with Riley series and... it's raining! Surprise! Also, it's December already!? The year went by so fast.

This event series was surprisingly difficult to put together as well as expensive. For the last two years, I've invested a good amount of the game's funding in acquiring royalty-free music and sound effects that I plan on using to improve the game's sound design. That said, sometimes the free alternatives are just better! At least, when it comes to looping tracks. As much as I would love to put a twenty minute ambient, seamless rain loop into the game, the Android version is more or less held together by duck-tape at this point due to the file size constraints. If you're on the Android version, that has been the primary cause of problems. Android limits the maximum size of the game file to be no more than 2 gigabytes, and the PC version is approaching 4. Image compression can only bridge that gap for so long.

My understanding, however, is that Steam might have a work around to allow Android devices to play steam games. It's one of the reasons my drive toward the Steam launch has been so obsessive. Speaking of which...

This week is crunch week. My goal is to finish Riley's series, around three events, and then pivot into planning out the next year around the Steam release. I want it to come out in 2025. Once the game is on a platform like that, I will have much more flexibility in planning out features and content. Until then, my focus will be one hundred percent on getting the game to that state. Honestly, I'm pretty nervous.

But, back to rendering!

Thank you for all of your support,

~Solace

Oh my god thank you. I have wanted a steam version for so long now. So glad you have decided on that route. Have loved this game since it originally started.

I'm familiar with that route, but... that seems kind of terrifying to me. I would never download an Android game that could install literally anything to my computer in the way that system works. With a normal Ren'py game it's a simple unpackage and run.

Some android games have gone the route of a small initial installer and a second file .rpa copied into your documents folder which is read/writable
