Change-Log from 1.825 to 01.850:

Update:

Hey everyone!

What a mess this all was. To give you all the short version: I have quit my job! I couldn't do the full time day job plus working on the game full time anymore. The combined total of seventy or more hours a week for... at least three years now had worn me down. I spent a good amount of this update getting things in order: having someone take over my lease, moving out and then back in with my mother, sorting out things with the post office, and... well, everything that comes with moving.

I made this decision because my physical health had been deteriorating and it was affecting everything. I don't know if this change will result in a large content boost in the future for the game. The goal was not to go from seventy hours split into two jobs to seventy hours in one job. I want to work normal, full-time hours on the game until it's eventual Steam release.

Needless to say, this has affected the current public build's content, but we do have a fancy new feature: the minimap! It's very basic looking, but it should help you all track where the characters are and what encounters will progress the story. Even I found some events I had been missing with what I thought was a fully completed save file. How about that?

Anyway, I've got plenty of renders to do. I'm much more active on the Discord now, as you can imagine, so feel free to drop in!

Also, I have enough savings to make to the game's launch. I didn't jump ship on my day job with the expectation that you guys would somehow make up the difference. I know what Superheroes Suck makes and I prepped for this situation in advance. I can make it.

Thank you all for your support,

Oh, no. The game will never have an online component. I was speaking about a "Steam" release, meaning that I would like to release the game on Steam, the retail service. There are no intentions to "stream" it.

Your little map works fine , I only use it if I want a reference, Been playing a while and find it a good fit for my purposes. So this streaming, Does that mean its going to be online only after that date? I don't do online stuff much. Will probably drop out if no offline versions Or is the novel going to be completed and you move on?

The entire look of the map is more of an early concept. I'm not a graphical designer, nor do I have much artistic talent, and so my goal was to get something that was functional first. I can always make it look better later, but I need to know if people can use it now. Also, the Academy is too large to really "fit" in the space allotted. The map, at that size, can't render its proportions properly without zooming quite a bit out and making the icons blurry and unrecognizable.

The map needs doors. And stairs. And maybe accuracy. Riley's room looks to be int he same side area as the bathroom? Which opens in the hall not near the elevator. And it implies room #1 has been built (grey it in?) I haven't checked the minimap during earlier parts of the game, but the garage sets the map to the second floor also. Might be better if there were 2 up and down buttons letting you switch between floors at your leisure so you don't have to travel to said floor for the new map? Also, why does the Hallway extend to the left past across from Harper's room? Maybe the bathroom can be smaller and more grey space entered but also hug the bottom of the screen? Might be a secret room in that grey area at some point...or some on the opposite side of the hall that Riley's door opens to? Or should that be on top of the map?
