STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections)

https://www.ohjoysextoy.com/sti/

πŸ› πŸœπŸžπŸ¦€πŸ‘STIs aren’t actually that big of a deal anymore! We live in the future with access to medication that can either cure what ails ya or at least make the incurable ones survivable and manageable. Read the full comic to learn about some of the most common STIs that 50% of sexually active people will probably catch at some point in their lives. πŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’Š

WEBSITE WONKINESS: The last few weeks the comics haven't gone live at their scheduled time, so if you click the link and it doesn't work just hold on and we'll manually push the post live around 9am PST. Matt thinks he may have found a workaround so hopefully this warning will be for nothing, but WHO KNOWS Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections)

Yeah, this one missed the mark for me, too. We’re amazingly lucky to have treatments available for many of these diseases, but that won’t last with antibiotic resistant bugs. And if a nasty new pathogen comes into the picture, as it did with HIV in the 1980s, an β€œSTIs are minor- don’t worry about safe sex!” attitude could mean that a lot of folks could suffer.

Hm. I feel like on this topic, it's worth mentioning that antibiotic-resistant versions of some of these have started to turn up (definitely gonnorhea, and I think syphilis recently as well; untreatable syphilis would be a horror show, that disease is a really awful way to die). Not that people need to be ridiculously paranoid about it, but still, I wouldn't just be cavalier about this stuff. Use barriers with new partners, and get tested regularly if you're in a risky population (e.g. non-monogamous).

Oh, right, my mistake, sorry.

Wood

What! I didn't know that???

Erika Moen

Haha we did? /:) It's the second info point on the card.

Erika Moen

I notice you didn't mention there's a vaccine for hepatitis B?

Wood

The HPV vaccine was just made available for people aged 9 to 45. I'm actually going to ask my doctor about it!
