[Progress Report]: 8th of May

Hey everyone,

As you can see from the above, I'm finishing off the aftermath of last Version's discussion with Riley! This has been quite a rollercoaster for her, and I hope you all don't mind being along for the ride! Developing on Superheroes Suck is still keeping apace, and I will be looking into preparing for the big showdown in the upcoming week, along with a few events to set up its foundation. Assets have been secured and I should have everything I need to meet the usual deadline.

For this week's topic, I wanted to speak about Superheroes Suck's linearity. There's been quite the discussion on it as we build up to the power reveal and the sandbox overhaul after that, and I wanted to explain what will and won't branch in Superheroes Suck.

Superheroes Suck does have a linear main story. I intend on it having a least two possible endings, but that will be very near the end of the game and so not worth discussing in detail right now. The reason that the story is linear is because, if I started to branch it, it could double the development time between updates. If Route A and Route B never intersect again, I would be making two separate main storylines. Everything that I have been working on for the past several months has been for the main story, even if it doesn't seem like it right now. Your relationships with the women of the Academy, and the people outside of it, all have hooks into the main plot.

My goal was to introduce smaller branching pathways in the Sandbox, minor events that led to a few decisions that might alter things like outfits, decor, schedule times, and so on. Because these won't be essential to the main story, I wouldn't have to worry about it seriously impacting the development rate of the main story. We haven't seen any of these yet because I've put them to the side in favor of advancing the main story to the power reveal. It's my hope to introduce these smaller events and side stories during the sandbox overhaul in the future.

I hope that explanation clears things up a little. I'm off to finish more renders! Oh, and have a happy Mother's Day!

Thank you for all of your support,

~Solace
