[Progress Report]: 10th of October

Hey everyone,
This week has all been about Chrys and Sumire as well as adding the new environment you see in the background. Quite a bit went into this series of renders, but I'm fairly happy with the result. The Month of Chrys is currently progressing as scheduled and, for the first time in a while, this development cycle is hassle free! I hope it lasts.
Unsurprisingly, next week will also be about further developing Chrys' and Sumire's stories as well as preparing to push the main story forward once again.
Oh! And for those of you who haven't voted yet on the H-scene poll, please do! That race is neck and neck!
Let's see... the single downside of a relatively calm development cycle is that there's not as much to talk about on the Progress Report. That said, I'll do what I usually do and address a question sent to my inbox. I'll paraphrase:
"Solace, I feel like every girl in the Academy is more like a fuck-buddy than a love interest. Why is that?"
Great question! Because they are your fuck-buddies. When I started writing Superheroes Suck, I wondered about how I would tackle the pacing of H-scenes. After all, if you were to shack up two people that found each other attractive, what would stop them from fucking? The answer? Not much. This is why a lot of sex scenes in Superheroes Suck lack a certain "romantic build up." Because many (not all) of these scenes are just casual sex. This reason for this has to do with each character's arc.
For Harper, Valentina, and Riley, their first arc, regarding sex, is all about establishing two things: that they trust the protagonist, and that they like the protagonist. Once those conditions are satisfied, the H-scenes are introduced accordingly. Now, this is a very basic deconstruction of each girl's arc, because you all know that more is happening in these stories than just sex. For example, Harper's first arc is about wanting "a boyfriend" while Valentina's first arc is about, "not wanting to lose to Harper." Neither of these girls, in the beginning, care about who the protagonist is personally because they don't know him yet. As their arcs evolve, so do these motivations. Valentina's, for example, changes gradually to, "not wanting to lose you to Harper." It's more personal, but not quite love. The only exception in the core cast at the moment is Chrys.
Chrys is the only character in the game whose first arc changes from "casual sex" to "in love." This is intentional, and a big reason why her arc is important to the main story. All of the heroines in the Academy will reach this personal development, but their realization of their romantic feelings comes later, whereas for Chrys, it has already happened. Of course, Chrys also has a second and third arc, which I am working on renders for right this moment. As for what is contained in those arcs, you'll just have to play and see.
Thank you for all of your support,
~Solace
