Hey everyone,
One of the two new characters has finally been added to the game! It took a full week to get this event just right, and it advances the main story's plot as well! There was a lot to do here, so I'm not surprised it ate six days of time, though I think I'll tackle something easier next week like Valentina's events for winning the H-scene poll. I need something less complicated to unwind with.
I've had a few questions about these new characters, as well as Detective Keegan, sent to my inbox, so I'll answer them here too just to get everybody on the same page.
1. When will Detective Keegan and these two new characters be romance-able?
Within Act 2. I want to say that Detective Keegan herself has about two or three main story events left to complete before her romance properly starts, and the character I just added won't be far behind. The last character will be more heavily involved with the end of Act 2, and so her romance will come closer towards the midpoint of the game's main story.
2. How long does it take to make a new character for Superheroes Suck?
Too long, honestly. There's getting a character out the door and then making sure she looks "right." Harper is a great example of that, as a character who was in the game since day one, but whose visual update took 17 days to complete. It's because of this that I tend to make characters way ahead of when I'll need them in the story, using the free time I get after finishing an event to smooth out the details. Detective Keegan is another good example. There was a 1-2 month period between her poll and her finished look, with work off & on each week at the end of events.
This varies a lot between characters as well, depending on how close they look to how I want them to appear in the game. Valentina, for example, was oddly perfect out of the "box." Instead of five days, she took maybe two hours to complete. I was so impressed by this that being a "perfectionist" became part of her personality.
Five days is around standard for a new character now. Usually two days of work on the face & body, then a break, and then two more days to touch up the face & body while also selecting an outfit. If I do less than this, I usually notice a mistake down the line. The break is also important, because you get so sucked into fixing the details, like the nose shape, that you'll miss something massive: like the fact not all characters come with eyelashes. If you look at some of Chrys' renders in the original Version 0.10 of the game, you'll see that she doesn't have eyelashes - her dark make-up hid that from me for almost two months!
Well, now I'm rambling. I'll start work on Valentina's events next week! After that, I'll start work on the second new character's introduction. Wish me luck!
Thank you for all of your support,

I figured no one really noticed she'd forgotten them that day.

2021-06-14 05:23:44 +0000 UTCOn my most recent playthrough, Chrys's tattoos came & went in the first week. I hadn't noticed that before, but I think that falls into the "it's not a bug; it's a feature!" category.
