[Progress Report]: 7th of February

Hey everyone,

We are finally onto the newest patrol, with your new partner, Chrys! It's been so long since we've done a patrol update. I've been focusing so much on developing the characters, either through current content or retroactively with revisions, that the main story has really fallen to the wayside. We should now be on an upswing, since I have a whole new cast of characters that I need to get ready to introduce, and they need the main story to progress in order to do that! Above you can see Chrys in her own super suit - I think this is the first time its ever been showcased in the game, although, you can all see variations of it on the banner image.  

Since it's been so long since I've had a main story update, I've forgotten how hard it is to write these reports! I can't really talk about the story without spoiling it, and, well... That's kind of that. So, I'll rely on how I used to keep you guys informed back in the day and address some questions that have been sent to my inbox.

When will we see Detective Keegan?

I'm glad you asked! Well, the answer is very soon and also not soon at all. Let me explain. The voting poll for her design ends around the time I will be releasing Version 0.70, which means she can't make it into this update - not even I'm sure what she looks like yet! Go vote now if you want a say in that! - After that, I would like to start her design and then post a "rough draft" when I'm finished. Depending on how well that rough draft is received, she might make it into the next update (0.75), or the following one (0.80). So, you'll see images of her very soon, but the final product in the actual game might be a ways off.

Are you close to finishing Superheroes Suck? You're almost at Version 1.0.

"Close" is a relative term... which means no. I'm not close at all. Instead of finishing the game at version 1.0, what I will be doing between versions 0.95 and 1.0 is prepping Superheroes Suck for a kind of relaunch. I'll be working on some quality of life improvements, and dedicating the majority of that time to adding features - hopefully some new mechanics and maybe even a functional in-game laptop... or really anything in the protagonist's room that works. Once the relaunch is done, we "reset" to an earlier version number. I'm also optimistically hoping this will bring in some new patrons. Fingers crossed!

As far as the patron page here, nothing will really change. I won't be gating any content or changing my release schedule. 

When will we be getting Sumire's Content?

Sumire is in an odd place. I really don't like her design. She's not bad, but I can do a much better job. At least I hope so. I don't want to eat those words. Right now, Sumire is technically one of Chrys' Revisions. That means that I will be going back and redoing her content, including the garage & dinner scenes, and adding a few more events before I add current content. Because Chrys had so much content compared to the other girls when her initial character arc was finish, it could be a while... On the other hand, Sumire's arc is supposed to open up sometime after after Chrys' arc. Since she's not a main cast member, she's not a major priority right now, but if Chrys wins a few character polls, she could be here a lot sooner. 

And for the eight of you that have messaged me about Asian MILFs, yes, I've heard you. Sumire will be that MILF. I have that in mind while brainstorming her redesign.

Will what happened in your personal life affect the content of this release?

I don't know. I am about a week behind, but I have some days off coming up and I plan on just sitting down and rolling my face all over the keyboard for a few twelve hour sessions. With some luck, I'll smash through another patrol and another lecture event. 

Another issue with the main story development is that it always looks bad, because 1 patrol sounds like less content than 2 character events, even if a patrol has four times as many renders as two events combined. That said, I promised main story developments, and I am sticking to it. I'm worried this might make Version 0.70 look short - and that drives me nuts. Too many of these updates have looked short to me.

When is the compressed Version?

Version 0.70 or bust! I will be doing a general compression / optimization of all of the image files for the next update. That should bring down the file size for every version of the game. Once I know it's working, I'll be trying out further compression techniques for the Android version after that.
