[Progress Report]: 22nd of November

Hey everyone,

If the picture above you're seeing is a little blurry, it's because I have to post it to imgur first, and then link it, and then it shows up here, so it gets compressed twice. The direct upload is still being a little buggy, but onto the progress report!

The last of Riley's triple animation event is rendering today! That puts us on two H-scenes and a total of six animations for the fast approaching release of Version 0.65. As I thought, this pace is much more comfortable for delivering H-content, and so expect a steady stream of two high quality H-events going forward. More depending on the version, but it should never be less.

With Riley's events on the tail end of completion, I am finally going to get the chance to move onto Valentina's revisions. I'm mostly looking forward to it, with the only trepidation being the nightmare it will be to stitch this all together seamlessly in the code. The training events were some of the first things I put into the game, and I wasn't as experienced in Python as I am now. Still, it needs to get done! I'm hoping for at least four new events for Valentina in time for the launch of the newest version, which should put us at the standard 10 events per update. 

As you know, I try to be very transparent on how I work on Superheroes Suck, so if you've ever wondered why 10 events seems to be the consistent number of content (and why less greatly upsets me, even if it is a bunch of lewds), the breakdown goes like this:

First Week: Storyboard the next six weeks, 1 Event

The Middle Weeks: 2 Events per week

The Last Week: 1 Event, Bugfixing, Proofreading, Coding, Play testing, Repeat

In the very beginning, back before I knew how to set up lighting and improve the render quality, each event only took around eight hours to make. Now they average closer to twenty hours a piece. Some events, like the Patrol missions, are so massive that they're effectively two or three events in one with how many renders they have. Events that have animations, by contrast, sometimes seem short short, but that's because each animation itself is made up 144 still images / separate renders. My real job also sometimes gets in the way of this workflow, but I've gotten better at forcing the two the play nice. 

With that technical explanation done, there's a question I've been receiving that I would like to answer.

Why is Valentina the first to receive revision content?

This for a lot of reasons. Of the four girls, only Harper and Valentina have rushed initial arcs. Riley's arc plays out over the course of several weeks, and Chrys' arc is going to finish on this upcoming update! By contrast, you are encouraged to finish Harper and Valentina's arcs within the first two-ish weeks of the game. That's not to say that Chrys and Riley won't be receiving revision content, but they're much lower on the priority list.

So, why Valentina and not Harper?

Because Valentina's model is finished. Funny story, and I think I may have told it before, but Valentina's character model is the only one in the entire game that didn't require any major adjustments. She loaded in oddly perfect. So, if you've ever wondered why I gave her such a perfectionist personality, that's why! Of course, I still had to make some changes so that she would work in the lighting I was using, but she's only a second version of herself. Riley and Harper are at four and Chrys is at five. Speaking of Harper...

I have never been completely happy with Harper's model, and will likely be giving her a visual update in the upcoming weeks. Obviously, since Harper has over a dozen events, I don't want to rock the boat too much, but she deserves the best quality makeover that I can provide. After that's done, then I will start her revision content.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm going to be revisiting all of the old animations and touching them up. I'm also so glad that you guys are supportive of the story of Superheroes Suck.

This is one of my favorite games. While I like the lewd content I wouldn't mind the occasional update that focused on story only. I enjoy the characters and world Solace has created and am interested in seeing the story move forward. The only old sex scene that really needs an update, IMO, is the Harper morning BJ, Good job Solace, looking forward to future updates.

They've changed the reply button... Also, thank you for the comment! There should be more substantial story content going forward. Last update was a bit of an anomaly, with a staggering 13 animations which really did eat into some of the story content. The standard six animations that I'll be trying for in the future with the 2 H-events should yield more story content and also keep a steady supply of H-events. Let me know on the release if it still feels too short - I'm very much working things out.

Knight of Solace

I don't know if it is at all possible, or more importantly something you would be willing to do, but I would much prefer fewer animations and more story progression. The animations seems to eat the most amount of time and even though they are great it is the story and the interaction with the girls I'm mostly interested in. Cheers!
