Flapjack shed two whiskers the other day and it seemed like such a waste to just... throw them out?
My disgusting friend Dylan Meconis plonks all her cats’ errant whiskers into a potted plant in her living room and I thought, hey, if it’s good enough for her ridiculous animals then it’s good enough for mine. Except instead of a real flower pot, I have a buncha these miniature ones left over from when I used to make these tiny potted tentacles out of Sculpey back in the day.
Flapjack photobombed this picture completely on his own, he just wanted to check out what I was focusing on that wasn’t him. Joke’s on you, buster, because it WAS (a piece of) you after all!!!
After I’d set up my little whisker pot, I spotted my collection of little wasp’s nests that Matt had removed from the underside of our roof’s eaves this summer and I was like WHAT IF I PUT THEM IN THEIR OWN TINY POTS and since I am a liberated woman who waits for no man’s approval I just went ahead and did it. EAT IT, THE PATRIARCHY. I put adorable insect nests into doll-sized novelty pots, whatcha gunna do about it?! Yeah, nothin’, that’s what. That’s what.
So anyway now I have a windowsill of tiny potted natural detritus and also a struggling shaviana pink frills succulent named Hillary whose growth I studiously document in daily photos to post them on the internet, hi, welcome to my home, would you like to be friends?
