(I originally posted a version of this on Twitter)
This is the first time I've free-hand drawn my own design on the fabric and I'm fairly happy with how it's coming out! I mean, I drew the initial center circle by tracing a round object, but all the stems and leaves and flowers I just drew without any guides.
I'm still experimenting, trying different approaches when it comes to embroidering. I learn so much every time I try to embroider my own design. I can see such a transformation from the point where I start to where I end.
Like, when I draw the design, I have specific types of stitches for each part *in mind* but then when I'm actually sewing I'll realize 'Ooooh, this isn't how I thought it'd look. I need to really exaggerate or shift this stitch' So even though there's a lot of duplicated elements in my pieces, no two of them are ever sewn exactly the same way.
Here, I made this diagram(?) to show you what I'm talking about. You can see how both of those leaves were done with Satin Stitch, but their outcomes look verrrrry different.
