November 20, penciling and inking
Added 2014-11-21 04:49:33 +0000 UTCI consciously try to keep my social media accounts somewhat entertaining, so I make my dick and fart jokes and post my updates and banter with people. I keep avoiding updating here because of all the places I talk on the internet, this is kind of the one place where I feel like I can and should talk about more than the superficial aspects of working on comics. But it's harder to share when you don't have good news. The last few weeks have been really hard. Really, really hard.
I'm not really sure how to do Patreon well.
I originally envisioned sending out daily snapshots of where I was in the artistic process of the comic and writing out what I worked on that day. It doesn't sound like much, but it turns out daily anything isn't terribly tenable for me. The other Patreon accounts I follow tend to do more of a weekly newsletter, kind of a highlights reel, which I've been enjoying as a patron.
What do you guys want?
I could probably keep up with a daily screenshot, if I didn't have to write anything to go with it (unless I really felt like I had something to share. But is that too much inbox clutter for you?
Do you want a weekly update that summarizes what got done in the last seven days?
Should I hold off on updating unless I've really got something to say?
Something else?
I appreciate you guys so much, you have quite honestly transformed my ability to support myself and my husband. I don't want to let you down.

Honestly? My main reason for being on Patreon is to ensure you keep doing the comics. A (bi-)weekly update would be just fine, with things that don't steal time and energy you can use on the comic or on being happy (e.g., the occasional screenshot of an in-process comic, or some nice tidbit about your process, or whatever). But the comic is the #1 priority, and I'd not be surprise if most people around here feel the same. Best wishes.

I would be perfectly happy to have less frequent posts -- daily does seem like a bit much for what I'm interested in, which is less the task completed than what the project is and how the process is going and what you're learning and stuff like that. I guess that lends itself to a weekly format? I don't have a large Patreon portfolio, but I think you're doing a good job! I don't want updates to feel like a chore for you. I think they should be useful to you as well as interesting/informative to patrons, so would setting aside some time once a week to think about how things went and what you accomplished be helpful to you?
