Tape Ops! Synth Museums! Cutting Records!

Hey Everyone!

I just got my copies of this month's Tape Op Magazine! For those who don't know, Tape Op is one of the best publications out there that focuses on sound recording and studio processes. I've been reading it for years so it was an honor to speak to Joel Hamilton there for this piece. He is a grammy winning engineer and studio whiz from Studio G in Brooklyn who is responsible for mixing some of my absolute favorite albums like Sparklehorse's It's A Wonderful Life for example!

Anyhow, I remember spending most of the interview time asking him questions about him mixing the new Sparklehorse album, Bird Machine. But that record was still unreleased at the time and so that part of the interview is not there but it was fun chatting to him about it!

But we do get into some real nerding out about cutting vinyl, mics, reverbs, compressors, Deltron 3030, National Music Center of Canada's synth museum and the making of Creatures of the Late Afternoon

Here's a studio nerdery glamor shot that Corinne took for Tape Op! I tried to look like a serious studio engineer type.  HAAAAAA!

For those of you who are interested, you can read the full interview at Tape Op here.  Enjoy!
