Sorry Guys for the long delay and Inactivity
Added 2019-03-20 13:28:25 +0000 UTCIt's been so long and the delay has also been so long I feel like I owe everyone an explanation. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
I've been coding this patch for now probably a little over a month. I had quite a bit of trouble working through it. I went into testing around the end of last month. Testing usually for me is a little more than testing. I code all the events separately and then test them and then put them all together while I test.
This is usually a 3-4 day process, but for this patch it wasn't even close to being the case. First I updated renpy engine to the new version to take advantage of the new error handling. I thought this would be a quick and painless process, but it did not turn out this way. It made many of my transitions which worked around something the old renpy engine bugs obsolete. This caused significant problems because I had to go back and change many of the transitions to reflect the new renpy engine. I'm not even sure I got all of it....
Then, I noticed very many bugs in old code and also bad code from a year ago that made this process really really slow. I went back and changed much of this code. All this stressed me out... and I kind of just shelled up... and I apologize for the lack of communications... This is a personality thing for me and it probably needs to change.
All this was then further compounded by me getting sick and I couldn't get out of bed or eat for nearly a week. I'm still not 100%, but things are getting better.
This is for the patrons that are interested in what the hell happened... I will do an additional post about whats to come because even though I think 0.6 is large, it is in my opinion largely a mechanics change and I didn't even get to finish all the changes to these mechanics.
I also believe, I largely need to avoid these super large render count updates, I thought I could get it done in a timely manner, because I did add someone to do post production and added an additional render machine (which saved about 30 hours), but as far as coding and writing I added probably 60-80 hours of work and I've come to understand that writing and coding is still the main bottleneck.
Anyways further information on future updates coming soon and all the missed content releases from last month I will post as well.
