2025-10-18 06:15:16 +0000 UTCLove the music in this movie. You can tell can Alan Menken was influenced by his work on Little Shop of Horrors when he decided to use the Muses as the narrators. They’ve always reminded me of the street urchins.

Of course, you might catch some of the passing jokes more, but you also might be bothered more by big picture stuff, like that Hera was not Hercules’ mummy! Hercules was never a full god. Zeus wasn’t inclined to ask before he took. The ‘real’ Hades wasn’t a bad guy, just rather solemn. In true Greek godly fashion, he kidnapped himself a wife and was happily married. He didn’t have a hate on for Zeus or anything. But I love this film, mainly for the gospel songs, and for Meg’s song. The deliberate shift from gospel to ‘sha la la’ to get a dig in at the sappiness had me literally crying with laughter.
