Honestly I think I'm even colder than Quinn if you want to think of it that way. I don't think it's cowardly to want to save your own life even if it had been his own kids. It's one thing I think if it seemed safe enough to help (like the situation after with the boat) but it was basically a death sentence to try to go back for his wife. The kid clearly died and she would have died had she not been immune.. For me it's kind of like the lack of being nice isn't the same as being mean. The lack of bravery I don't think automatically makes you a coward even though I think that is actually the definition lol. Cowardice has a more negative connotation than I think is warranted essentially. I will say after the fact he definitely acted cowardly by lying to his kids about what he did. Morally it makes sense to me to prioritize the life of children simply because they're more dependent on adults in general but I wouldn't call someone awful necessarily for not wanting to do that either. tldr: Don was justified in running away but not justified in lying to his kids about what happened.

Definitely agree with Quinn. Don couldn’t have done absolutely nothing in that situation. Especially with no weapon. Don made the right call if his goal was to survive. His wife was cooked when she went back for the kid. We all know Oak and Dave would do the same thing in that same scenario.

Nah, I gotta side with Quinn here. The blame falls on Alice completely. It's outbreak time, we don't have the luxury of standing around wasting time crying about some kid that you just met. The same thing happened in the barn with the old lady They tried to make Jacob seem like he abandoned them too when he didn't. He kept telling the old lady to climb up, and she only started after the infected were inside and halfway to her. Then she had the audacity to ask Jacob for help as they're biting into her. That's a jerk move right there. Way to give the guy trauma for trying to help you while you still had time. Don tried getting his wife out too but she wouldn't leave the kid alone. He closes the door to the room, tries to get them out, and she's just standing there the whole time doing nothing. The only wrong thing Don did was lie to his kids and give his wife a kiss.

I absolutely loved him in Once Upon A Time. He was my favorite in the show, his character had so many layers and was the most complexed character I feel like. Plus his performance was just perfect. Really hope the guys react to the show, despite the questionable CGI and green screens, the stories and how they intertwine with each other is worth the experience. Even if the story kinda takes a dip in the very later seasons.

I love this movie! Can't go wrong with Jeremy Renner and Robert Carlyle (Don). I know Robert as Rumpel from Once Upon a Time but he has done a lot of work. The intro is still one of the most heartbreaking scenes for me. Don really didn't have a choice. There was no way he could have gotten to her and with the amount of infected and how quick they were, he wouldn't have had the time to draw them to him to save either of them. He had to survive to find his children, if they were still alive (they didn't know), and you could tell how much he regretted "abandoning" his wife. Also, his wife wasn't willing to abandon the kid and jeopardized everyone. To me, that look before Don slammed the door was him processing that she would allow them both to die for the kid they met 20 seconds ago. I don't think he was in the wrong here. Realistically, had he gotten them both out, the kid would've probably took off again and his wife would've again gone after him and left Don. It sucks that he had to abandon her, and I'm sure the betrayal she felt in that moment, but I support his decision. Don tried to save everyone! He stayed back with the crowbar to allow them time to escape. His wife decided to go after the kid instead of leaving. Don went back for her and tried to drag her out and she refused. He even closed the door/shut her in to try and prevent more from getting to her. He could've just turned and walked away but didn't. Then he tried to pull Jacob onto the boat, despite being surrounded by the horde, and didn't give up until Jacob was clearly overtaken prior to turning. Don TRIED, so while he did leave his wife, she left him no choice. And to that, the intro is also one of my favorites. This is the first zombie/infected chase in a movie where I honestly didn't know if the runner would make it.

I agree with quinn here but as a movie that isnt real it doesnt matter what the guys or us viewers say we would do as if not in that exact situation we dont know what we would do or what would happen and anyone saying otherwise is nothing but a bullshitter lol
