You're saying singing is actually her main job? Where? And are you saying she's had difficulty getting *female* leading roles because of her height and the fact that she sings? Can you explain better to me, I'm interested and you seem to know a lot!

2025-05-08 23:20:52 +0000 UTCHii :) I’m new here and I’m the biggest Ted Lasso and Hannah Waddingham fan. Yes, that’s the actress singing! There’s a couple amazing videos of her rehearsing this with the musicians at the pub set. So cool. She’s a professional singer and Ted Lasso was her big TV break, but she already had a 20+ years career as a leading lady in the West End (London’s equivalent to broadway) and had done the leading female role of Spamalot on Broadway too. She’s spectacular. A total stage beast! She’s hosted the Olivier’s (British theater awards, like the Tony’s in the US) on her own twice and last year her opening number was awesome. Please give it a listen: https://youtu.be/0L5vJPyqGFk?si=bGyF9dVd1xid64O0 When Ted Lasso started attracting attention to her and people were surprised by her voice, she’s said in interviews “well man, that’s my day job!” 🤣 she decided to let it out in this Christmas episode, but in the karaoke scene, she wanted Rebecca to sound like someone who likes singing and can do it well, but isn’t a professional, so she mimicked facially a bit more effort and in general less technique so the focus wouldn’t be on that. She’s a phenomenal actress too and I’m so happy she got her flowers for this (she got the Emmy), cause she tried for a long time and never got the roles cause she’s too tall for the male leads and a “musical actress” so she wasn’t taken seriously. Jason Sudeikis had to fight to cast her, cause he and his co-creators thought she was perfect for it but the studios wanted an already famous actress. Thank you for reacting to this, I’m loving these reactions. :)

Yes, a Christmas episode in the middle of summer completely threw off everyone who was following the show as it originally aired. As explained by others in the comments, this is one of the two bonus episodes that got added to the season after the original ten episode order had already been written.
