I just KNEW Oak would love this show, so when I heard his thoughts after the end of the first two episodes I was so sad. But I held up hope that it would win y’all over in the end. I could go on and on and on about how well done this show is. I’m just glad to experience it with you guys

2025-03-27 05:37:27 +0000 UTCI would kill to see you guys react to Scrubs. It is my favorite TV show of all time and basically no one reacts to it (I think because so many have seen it). The writing has held up shockingly well for how old it is and it has some of the best emotional and comedic moments of any series out there. It is also one of the most accurate medical shows for its time.

2025-03-25 20:53:51 +0000 UTCWhen you guys were talking about the show not having swerves, and the light-heartedness, and the straightforwardness, I feel like the word you're dancing around is "genuine." There's nothing artificial about the show - and because of that it subverts expectations, because so many sit-coms run on false pretenses with manufactured interpersonal drama rather than, well, genuine interpersonal drama. You'd think right off the bat Rebecca and Keeley would be antagonistic, because in sit-coms when two beautiful women meet, they have to dislike each other, or be in competition with each other or something, right? Not in Ted Lasso. Or that Trent would have spent the day with Ted and then written a snobby hit piece, because that's what we're taught to expect from "cool smart guy who seems condescending" -- again, no. This show is such a delight and it brings me so much happiness that you're all loving it so much.

Also both series feature outstanding characters and character developments. Bill Lawrence knows his job very well! Brett Goldstein, playing Roy Kent here, is co-writer of Ted Lasso btw. Him and Bill Lawrence developed another series as well, it's called Shrinking and it is also fantastic! 😊

2025-03-25 17:03:34 +0000 UTCSo glad to hear Oak say that he's loving it right at the end of the episode... he had the resting Oak face for most of the episode so it was a little hard to tell, but we all knew this would be right up his alley. (Obviously, Quinn was laughing throughout so it was easy to tell he was enjoying it.) And you're right about it having a lot more depth than you'd ever expect from a comedy from a dude from SNL that's based on a series of commercials. This show has SO MUCH HEART.
