He feels ownership of her affection and love because she has obsessively given it to him his whole life. I will die on the hill of Mikasa is a scapegoat later in the show and the manga for Eren’s actions it’s super lazy writing. Mikasa is a caricature of a misogynistic fantasy men have about a women who whole heartedly devotes herself to a man and takes whatever rude and nasty thing he says or does to her on the chin, is loyal and only wants him no other man and will never move on from him. No matter how he treats her she will still proudly love and practically worshiping him. Mikasa and Eren could have had a tragic romance or a will they won’t they or even a happy love story but alas they don’t cause Eren doesn’t show an ounce of romantic interest or attraction to Mikasa (up until this point in the anime and even in the manga no spoilers). It could have been cute but it is not.

2024-09-19 15:27:46 +0000 UTCI feel like it's pretty disrespectful to those of us who are paying to watch, only for them to change the language randomly, which significantly decreases the quality of the show for many of us (I know this is based on opinions, and you have a right to yours). It would feel like paying for a product, only for it to change into something that I only want half of it that makes sense. I would feel the same way if they started watching the show in English and switched to Japanese. Also, I don't really think it matters if they miss something here and there. I missed many things myself on my first watch, and it makes it a lot of fun to watch again. Again, this is just my opinion and yours is just as valid.

I just commented that to just let the guys know so they can decided fpr themselves in case THEY feel like it's hard to follow with the sub some times. I've notice them missing some things here and there when looking at each other while talking and I just don't want them to miss put on anything. But I got out-voted preeetty quickly lol. I guess I can understand them somewhat thought. I'm not a big fan of Erens voice actor in the dub version and those three episodes is very Eren-heavy so I get it.

2024-09-19 13:12:55 +0000 UTCSeriously I mostly always watch my anime and dub and don’t care what anyone says because it’s hard for me to multitask looking at the action or what’s going on and trying to read it’s hard so I always watch my anime and dub and sometimes the voices are bad and sometimes they’re not, but I’m not going to deny What feels right for me just because of people believe that sub is all superior and I would never force the guys to watch anything that they don’t want to so if they want to keep watching it in sub let them we are simply trying to let them know that there will be a lot of information dumping coming in the next few episodes and since they had to keep the commentary and also make sure they follow along that it might just be a tad bit hard but it’s up to them at the end of the day

The direction and the writing for that scene: incredible, just like the whole series.

2024-09-18 06:50:43 +0000 UTCEren shows no indication of liking Mikasa romantically EVER (up until this point in the story) He never does anything in the story to show He’s doing what he’s doing cause he’s romantically interested in her (up until this point no spoilers) We barely know Mikasa likes Eren romantically we just start to project that onto her in the early seasons because she’s obsessed with Eren and to make her obsession less creepy. That’s why I said Mikasa is a scape goat later on in the series. It’s lazy writing. Mikasa character is made to serve Eren, she doesn’t move the plot at all, sure she’s a badass and an excellent fighter but that could have been any chapter lol. Like I originally said if she died at any point nothing would have changed. Sure it’d be sad but the story as it stands would still go on and still have almost the same outcome. Fans are just obsessed with sexualizing her and the fact that “ohhh maybe her and Eren could be a thing” so they think she’s more important to the story than she actually is. It’s honestly a shame, she deserved more.

When I started hearing him, the way that he was speaking and everything he was saying seemed like it was deliberately chosen to dismantle and demoralize his friends. Eren doesn't want to fight or hurt them, they're his best and closest friends in the world. He even refuses to let them inherit his titan because he wants them to live long and happy lives. I think a lot of people forget this and ignore Eren's character in the heat of the moment. It was always clear to me that he had a plan and that his plan was consistent with his character: to make sure that his friends live good, long lives in peace. If he has to get his hands dirty or make them hate him in order to do it, he'll gladly take that burden on instead of dealing with the alternative of all of them dying.

They've convinced themselves that listening to something in a language that you don't understand is normal and they've even tied their sense of self worth into that. Seeing Armin so angry at Eren for telling her that and even lunged at him for it too!..just heartbreak. Also something to mention here if you missed it, in the village Connie is from Zeke used a mist or vapor of his spinal fluid to change them. That's what that smoke was in that scene. The wine was a new approach in liquid form. also I hate floch.. bleh

Remember they can't pause and they also "have to" give commentary while watching so I imagine it can't be that easy to follow along 100% all the time while doing that.

As we know, Eren has the founding titan but not royal blood. It is intentionally left ambiguous on the few Ackerman that are left because they have lost their purpose since the last true line of Eldia's kings are pacifists. They were initially programmed to "protect".

There was definitely potential I feel like in the first season after Eren was eaten and then revealed to be a Titan for her character to turn around but Isayama was not interest in writing Mikasa to be an actual character she was just the scape goat later for Eren’s actions. It honestly kills me that she loves Eren cause it’s lazy writing, girl likes boy and that’s her whole purpose. If Mikasa had died at literally any point it wouldn’t have change the story much and I express this is simply my opinion lol.

2024-09-16 21:28:52 +0000 UTCThis is a bit of a humble brag, but when I was a first time viewer, this was the key episode that allowed me to accurately predict how the show would end. Obviously, I didn't know all the finer details, but my general hypothesis was correct. The good thing about shows with good writing is by this point in the story, the show should be beginning to become predictable. We're nearing the end of the story and all the threads are coming together. That doesn't mean there won't be a few curve balls along the way, but it should be possible to form a rough idea of how things will potentially conclude. Some of the foreshadowing can be caught in a first time viewing while others may require a rewatch or further context. OR, you can pull a Game of Thrones and have the characters begin to behave idiotically to subvert the viewers' expectations/predictions and ruin the story.

But I decided to cringe through it with you guys. Also this is the episode where I was like yeah Eren doesn’t deserve Mikasa’s love and devotion. Actually Mikasa is the character I’m the most conflicted on in whether I like her or not. I could write a dissertation on it but yeah it’s really brutal watching this episode back. Like I cringe so hard at Eren beating Armin up. One thing to note was what Eren says about Ackermans is not entirely correct but half way there. Isayama who is the writer and creator of AOT said in the 2016 Attack on Titan Answers book that “Ackermans choose to dedicate themselves to their liege.. “[context Kenny-Uri, Mikasa-Eren, Levi-Erwin] “they’re not compelled by their bloodline to follow them blindly. However, it does appear that when it comes to choosing a liege, they’re instinctively inclined towards people who have a vision or a purpose they can follow. And this is the link to the Ackerman’s strength, by following people with a higher purpose, they can use their extraordinary power to the fullest.” It just that Mikasa does blindly follow Eren and it creates a conflict of interest of who is Mikasa really. Part of the reason why I’m so conflicted with her character writing.

And Diamond Dave you're right, to this point me and lots of people thought the same about Zeke being Levi's bitch lmao, their dynamic is so funny to me, we know how much Levi cared for Erwin and Zeke was the one who killed him so he has deep disgust for him, understandably. I also really challenge you guys to remember Eren, Armin, Mikasa, the Jaegerists, the cadets, everyone is pretty much (aside from Hange, Levi and commander pyxis Zeke & Yelena) are 20 yrs old or younger. They're also kids who have suffered trauma for the majority of their formative years. Choices they make no matter how mature or smart they are, are still through the lens of youth. Imagine yourself at that age and making these life changing choices that will either build or sink your countries government.

When he’s consumed how many titans? Also, Mikasa didn’t stop Armin from hitting Eren the second time. She didn’t hesitate to tell him that what he did was wrong. So is she really being “made to protect him”?
