Something I realized is that the boy asked the soldiers in the store, if they could call their friends with tanks to come and save them and then at the end the military tanks show up to save them.. but it’s too late. Ughhh gut wrenching.

Samantha Pearce

You should react to Stephen King's Storm of the Century, it is really good.

Bjaskorv

I hated this movie when I saw it in the theatres. Definitely seems dated now too but ya, those last two minutes, oof…and The Road! OMG Had to watch it and read the book for a class - ugh relentless…yup same haunting hopeless vibe as this film.

Mss Lee

Also Dobby coming in clutch in this movie 🤣

Katie

4 minute ads😭

Jake Austin

Marcia gay harden was so GOOD in this

Jake Austin

Yea chiiiii that mess smh 🤦‍♀️

Love10 ❤️

The Happening lol

Bri

Steven King himself said that this movie is a better ending to his novella story than what he wrote. Separate from that I LOVE this movie. It is an absolute master class on the human condition and how we will absolutely devolve to our most basic desires of wanting to be wanted via religion. AT The Oak: The grocery was a good place, but the locals (nut case religion fanatic) made it untenable. But I understand your objection. AT Mason Quinn: We did have that in Arcane twice. When Viktor interrupted Jayce's call of the VOID of falling. And then when Jayce interrupted Viktor's call of the VOID. after seeing the review ratings: I appreciate that you guys do HONEST review raitings. I said as much with your Spirited Away review.

TexasSnyper

Yeah the book doesn't have this ending, it just finishes with them driving off in to the mist and the unknown. There is actually another version of the movie that has the books ending and pans out to show the entire Earth covered in the mist, as well as a few other 'TV friendly' versions floating around where everyone lives.

JenVonLee

My first time ever seeing this as well. I really liked it. Upon learning that the book ending seems more open-ended yet hopeful, I much prefer this ending. It's bleak and nihilistic. They lost hope and look what happened. Some were so horrified they gave into fanaticism. Some of the humans were just as bad of monsters as the actual monsters and I love that dynamic. I agree they maybe wouldn't have given in to fanaticism or offing themselves so fast, but I still found it believable. Humans can be very rash and impulsive creatures when in a state of fear/shock. Some people in a situation like this can be rational, others can be rash, others can fall back on their religion/beliefs. It's one thing to be faced with horrors of our world. It's another to be faced with horrors we know absolutely nothing about from an unknown place. I'd give it a 4.5/5.

Jundae

This was like a walking dead reunion lol I didn’t remember this movie being this good lol I think I got it mixed up with that mark walburg one with the deadly plants

Love10 ❤️

i was screaming no thats star killer lol

Crispin

The silences during this were h e a v y. Which I completely understand. This is one of my favorite movies that I've watched many, many times, yet I always find the emotional impact to be the same. I go quiet and cry, haha. The first few times I ever watched this, I genuinely hated the ending because I'm the type of person who is like, "No! Keep fighting!" It had me so conflicted that they just lost hope and gave up so quickly. But the more I watched, the more the ending grew on me. I mean, I bawled even when I hated the ending, but once the hopelessness of what the characters were in sunk in, I cried even more. I've heard some people disliked David's screams at the end. A few I know even said it was almost comedic. For me, though his screams about what he had just done always triggered the waterworks for me, lol. I will say, y'all's faces every time Mrs. Camody came onto screen were hilarious for me. She is right up there on my list with Umbridge, so to see others dislike or be completely exasperated with the character fills me with a vindictive sort of satisfaction, haha. Anyways, great reactions, as always! I was so hyped when I got this notification that I didn't even rent the movie, just watched it on AP with ads, lol. Keep up the great work, y'all! :D

Erin Dias

Ahhhhh yes! Great suggestion!! The first one is briliant

Yen Shively

Oh okay, well nevermind then 😂

I'm Batman

They’ve watched it! It’s one of their favorite shows haha. They’ve seen all the Flanagan shows besides Midnight Club!

Yen Shively

Yeah this ending is a hard one to watch, no doubt. Great reaction though guys, might make a suggestion for a possible reaction, it's a Netflix miniseries called midnight mass. It's only 7 episodes long and I will say this one thing only, there's a character in there that will rival Delores Umbridge in terms of how hateable the character is. Truly believe y'all would enjoy this show.

I'm Batman

I LOVE a dark ending cause we get plenty of happy ones so this one just makes the movie for me! That's why they say it's not over until it's over.

Dee

I've seen a lot of people react to this movie, knowing what was coming, and this is the first time I've ever seen anyone rendered completely speechless. I halfway expected Oak to take off his headphones and just walk away.

Cass&Jason

Similar to Southpaw, all i remembered was that it was good, and when the wife died i had never felt those anger/remorse feelings before

Steven Warner

I agree with Oak on the stomach turning factor, ive seen this movie once before, all i remembered was that it took place in a grocery store, and that the ending was traumatizing, i was expecting it this time around but the first raw reaction made me feel emotions i had never felt before

Steven Warner

I definitely think people wanted you to watch it for TWD characters and ending. You guys should watch the Silent Hill movies! I believe they're coming out with a new one soonish

Ivan Rasmussen

😂😂😂 the anger towards that woman

Steven Warner

For me it was free with insanely long ads

Steven Warner

Oh definitely hard to see, but I think he LOOKS more like comic Rick early issues but yeah idk if he has the right vibe for it for sure

Jack's World

Hard to see Thomas as Rick. But I'm sure it would've been interesting

Badd Medicine

That's weird. You guys rented it, but it's free for me on Amazon Prime.

Arudorin

To this day, I have never seen a movie with a more heartbreaking ending, and I believe Stephen King actually said that he preferred this ending to the one he had in the book which I believe was probably your stereotypical Happy Ending versus what we saw

Jack's World

If I’m not mistaken, I believe the lead actor here, the father was one of the guys in the running to play Rick Grimes hence why you see a lot of Walking Dead actors in this show I believe Frank D. was doing some scouting behind the scenes lol

Jack's World

I know Sam Witwer as Darth Maul or StarKiller

Steven Warner

Haha... Negative. I'll correct that.

Steven Warner

I’ve read about 20 of Stephen King’s books and short stories. A lot of people don’t know Shawshank is one of his works so don’t feel too bad, Oak. Other ones that might surprise you are Stand By Me and The Running Man. He has done a lot of coming of age, psychological thriller, and science fiction stories as well as horror. I’ve been to Stephen’s house in Maine and he’s a very nice guy.

Alanna Banana 🍌

Interesting Easter egg that the pharmacy was called King’s, named after author Stephen King.

Alanna Banana 🍌

Ollie is the MVP of this movie

Alanna Banana 🍌

The most devastating ending in movie history.

LizB

That was perfect honestly, I'm glad she made it.

Megan

That ending man! I always tell my friends, they literally should've waited until the monster had made it into the car before making that choice. I remember after seeing it in theaters, my mom and I said the same thing because they don't know if they would've been attacked or able to "hide" in the car and wait it out. Anything could have, and did, happen. One of the best movie endings for me!

Megan

I still need to watch Old Boy, I always see it pop up on movie lists.

Bri

About the ending— the message I always pulled from it was never (EVER) lose hope. I agree that the dad's decision felt pretty rushed and most people probably wouldn't resort to that so quickly. This is one of my favorite movies but I understand it's pretty bleak. Thanks for watching, yall!

JessTellsTales

the lady at the beginning who went back for her kids, cursed them all before leaving, was on the truck with her kids and other survivors at the end. Also Stephen King liked the ending so much he said he wish he thought of it, himself. lol

Mister Lou

Not sure if it was Stephen King or Frank Darabont who said it, but this was sort of the contrast to Shawshank Redemption (also based on a Stephen King novella and directed by Frank Darabont), where both films delve into the theme of hope in the very direst of circumstances; this, the loss of hope vs Shawshank Redemption's not giving up and still hoping.

Bartimaeus

Yeah the book ending is very different and very open to interpretation

Katie

Check out Darabont's other works, pleaseee! I think the Blob would be so fun to react to!

Butthats

Ohh Ian, didn't know that. And I agree I think people accepted it over time

Alexiani Gollarza

😂😂💜

Alyssa Dyson

lol I noticed as well hahahahaha

Alexiani Gollarza

For the Oak, people working in the movie asked King permission to change the ending, he said yes (I don't know much about it). Also, the ending in the book is an opened one. They drive for hours on hours, the guy is writing down his thoughts during the night saying he thinks he heard a word over the radio (hartford) and thinks going there could be the answer but he's not sure if he heard it or not. He has hope they can get there and that is how the book ends (them sleeping, him writing, the monsters around them)

Alexiani Gollarza

I think the movie is very good with a very tragic ending that ties the whole movie together

MynamecouldB

Oak's face of disgust during half of the movie was my face as well lol the creatures do give us the creeps. I don't like bugs, I don't like big bugs, so yeah xD disgusting

Alexiani Gollarza

Mason mentioning/looking at oak to recognize Andrea 3 times...Oak 😑😑😑....a few moments later..."Is that Andrea?" lmaoooo 🤣🤣💜

Alyssa Dyson

Such a sad ending-I imagine it hits you all harder being dads…

Kaley

Looks like this may have been the movie where a lot of the OG TWD cast came from just before preproduction would have started. How have I seen both adaptations of The Fog but never the Mist!

Rochelle (mascara_problems)

It's super fucked up (King's story had a much more hopeful ending), though I think "Old Boy" is a contender for the title of most messed up ending of all-time.

Jeff K

AHHH my favorite Frank Darabont's movie!

Butthats

The crazy religious chick

Liam

Which one? 🤔

Badd Medicine

My mom loves Stephen King and was so excited for this movie. She waited and bought it on dvd. We watched it that night and after the ending she said she'd never watch it again, and gave it away. 😆😆

Sarah

He did! I got this from Collider.com: “Apparently, Stephen King prefers this ending to his own, and not for a bad reason either. In a 2007 interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, King praised the film's final moments by saying: ‘When Frank said that he wanted to do the ending that he was going to do, I was totally down with that. I thought that was terrific. And it was so anti-Hollywood — anti-everything, really! It was nihilistic. I liked that. So I said you go ahead and do it. The critics and fans both kind of excoriated him for that. And now, when you read retrospective pieces about The Mist , people are, 'Wow, that’s one of the great ones.' They like it. They just had to get used to it.’” Love the reactions guys, can’t wait to watch!

Ian

this movie is wild.

Alyssa Dyson

I love the mist so much, that ending, was one out of 2 films I watched in theatre that, when it ended, it was just dead silence as everyone exited the theatre.

Anza

Haha did he say that?

Badd Medicine

When Stephan King says the film's ending is better than his own, you know it's fucked

Ian

Amen to that

Alexiani Gollarza

This is the most messed up ending of all time lol. Omg I want to know what you guys think of that but also the ending traumatized me.

Amber

Watching Peaky Blinders now and will be sat for this next!

Katie

This is going to be a banger

Eric Wallace

This is my favorite Stephen king adaptation EVERRRRR frank is great at king

Jake Austin

the most annoying character in a movie

Liam

Oh damn. Can't watch right now, but I look forward to this one!
