2024-07-29 09:58:22 +0000 UTCOh I just remembered something, A24 is currently making a movie with Zac Efron which looks like its based on the Indian movie "Fan" (2016), with Shah Rukh Khan. Zac will play a double role, a superstar and his obsessive fan who is also a lookalike, which is precisely the plot of Fan. So if you want to see more of SRK I think you could consider this movie, IMO it's a very good one. To make SRK look different as the lookalike they used a mix of vfx (done by SRK's own company) and prosthetics/makeup done by Greg Cannom who got the Oscar for his work on Benjamin Button. SRK also really shows his acting talent there! π

2024-07-28 16:19:04 +0000 UTCOk, now here are 10 suggestions for your next Indian movie, hopefully you can watch one in September π₯Ίπ I'm curious to see which one would strike your fancy (it doesn't have to be one of these, there are dozens more great ones you should watch too) π AAVESHAM one of the highest rated films this year, big success both critically and commercially. A unique gangster movie/dark comedy, different from what you've seen so far, with Fahadh Faasil as lead actor. You've seen him as Amar in Vikram (the agent whose girlfriend gets killed). He's one of the best actors currently in India (he's my personal fav π). (Original language: Malayalam. On Amazon Prime) For something very different from the Indian movies you've seen so far: ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI. The 10th highest grosser in 2023. Romcom/family drama with lavish sets, directed by Karan Johar who is well known for his previous movies in this genre. If you want to see more incredible musical numbers this is it!! The lead actress is Alia Bhatt who was Sita in RRR. She is one of the best actresses in India. In this movie though I think you will especially love the male protagonist/actor, the same way you thought Ryan Gosling stole the show in Barbie. (Original language: Hindi. On Amazon Prime) BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN a 2015 highly popular comedy drama with Salman Khan (8th highest grosser of all time in India). Salman is unrelated to Shah Rukh Khan but along with Aamir Khan, whom you know from 3 Idiots, they are known as "the 3 Khans", the 3 biggest Bollywood superstars, who funnily enough happen to have the same name, were born the same year, and became superstars in the late 80s/early 90s. This movie was written by V. Vijayendra Prasad, who is none other than SS Rajamouli's dad (he also wrote almost all of his son's movies including Baahubali and RRR, this is one of the few scripts his son didn't direct). (Original language: Hindi. On Amazon Prime) If you want to see more of Shah Rukh Khan then I'd suggest MY NAME IS KHAN, a very well known 2010 drama. He really shows his acting chops there. Most of the story is set in the US and I think you'd find it moving and interesting. (Original language: Hindi. Not sure but I think it's on Apple TV, or to buy on Amazon) 96 a 2018 popular romantic drama. If you want to see more of Vijay Sethupathi, the villain in Jawan, whom you didn't recognize but he was also the villain in Vikram (with a very different look), then I'd recommend this one as it shows in his versality. He's a very renowned actor. (Original language: Tamil. On Amazon Prime) MAAVEERAN a 2023 superhero hit. This could be your first proper Indian superhero movie. It's lots of fun and has an original approach. Vijay Sethupathi does the voice over (an important part of the story). (Original language: Tamil. On Amazon Prime) If you want to see more of Deepika then my recommendation is TAMASHA a 2015 very unique romcom/coming of age drama. It's a surprisingly powerful movie that many people (me included) consider a masterpiece. (Original language: Hindi. On Netflix) If you want to see Sanjay Dutt in his most iconic villainous role then check out AGNEEPATH the 2012 epic revenge action drama (loose remake of the 1990 one). The hero is played by Hritikh Roshan whom you saw in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. (Original language: Hindi. On Netflix) My next suggestion is SANJU, the 2018 biopic about Sanjay Dutt π By the director of 3 Idiots. It's a light hearted approach but you'll see the wild life he's had. It's the 19th highest grosser of all time in India (just after Leo at the 18th place). (Original language: Hindi. On Netflix) Last but not least, SAPTA SAGARADAACHE ELLO a 2023 romantic drama in 2 parts (Side A & Side B). I mentioned it in a superchat a few weeks back. It's one of the best movies of the last few years, top tier stuff and I think you would really like the story. (Original language: Kannada. On Amazon Prime)

2024-07-28 09:58:04 +0000 UTCGREAT REACTION GUYS!! ππ The amount of swearing in this video lol π€£π€£ Was this the fastest 5/5 ever?? I'm glad you liked the movie, I had a feeling you'd enjoy it π Just a clarification, Jawan is a standalone and not part of the LCU! The LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj while Jawan is directed by Atlee π But yes you've seen Sanjay Dutt before, playing the villain in both KGF 2 and Leo. Good catch by Mason to immediately recognize his name! He's an iconic actor who had a crazy life, for example he was in jail from 2013 to 2016, there is even a biopic made about his life. Some more info for you guys, I hope it's not too much π This type of movie that has every genre is called a "masala", like the masala mix of spices. It often throws off westerners but personally (I'm French) I've always found it cool and kind of refreshing and now it seems you guys are on board! I like what Oak said about some people just watching the start of a movie and not giving it a chance... when something is different from what you're used to it can be necessary to take time to get into it, sometimes it can be an acquired taste... I know people who said they didn't like Indian movies without even having seen one, but who ended up liking what they saw when I recommended a few movies. I'm a metalhead and the same is true for metal, people are often surprised to realize they like it when they give it a chance, even extreme metal. The Zinda Banda song is awesome I agree, I've rewatched it so many times on Youtube! The composer is Anirudh Ravichander, he also did the soundtracks of Vikram and Leo. He's very popular. Concerning the pronunciation, the "Rukh" in Shah Rukh Khan's name rhymes with "book". But he's also commonly referred to as "SRK". He's without a doubt the biggest superstar in India. Last bit of info about the movie: Jawan was the highest grosser in India in 2023 with 1100 crores which equals to 11 billion rupees and it's the 5th highest grosser of all time there, but Prabhas's new movie the dystopian Kalki 2898 AD has just reached 1100 crores too and it's still in theaters so it will definitely put Jawan as the 6th highest grosser. That was a long comment, I'll suggest some movies to watch in another one π

2024-07-28 01:45:17 +0000 UTCJust to let you guys know if you didn't already, Shah Rukh Khan is the king of bollywood, the level of fame he has worldwide is untouched, if you watch some of his early movies, the most iconic being Khabhi Khushi Khabi Gham, you'll see why he has such a superstar aura πππ he always took in romantic roles but changed to action led roles in older age, but he will always hold the highest standard for romance π€£
