Oh, I didn't know that! My apologies; that's how I used to see it done. At any rate, I'm very glad you reviewed this movie. It's one of very few movies that sees people really living their lives with mental illness as well as the good things that can come with the struggles--introspection, passion, etc.

Maisie

Unfortunately, It's illegal to do that.

Badd Medicine

I hate syncs :( I miss having the movie in the video as you react

Maisie

Where’s the YT cut? 😫

KP

There's a reason this movie and cast were all nominated for Academy Awards ❤️

Kat M.

That’s such a great connection you made there-it makes sense why Tiffany used sex as a way to cope with Tommy’s death, given her experience at the end/her struggles with depression anyway, etc. a lot of people use ways to distract from the pain they’re experiencing, whether it’s sex, food, alcohol/substance abuse…

Kaley

Damn, they would've lost their Parlay, if they were being judged by you guys.. lol but great reaction. I had a blast revisiting this with you all. keep up the good work!

Mister Lou

No cause til this day I still think, oh welp I guess we're glossing over that bit 😅

Jorreca

awesome movie, similar the movie a star is born is also really good. staring bradley cooper and gaga

Jor Dooger

Loved the reaction guys! I really enjoy JL and BC's chemistry. I would like to make a suggestion for a future watch Ever After (1998) it's a really good movie. I would love to see you guys watch it! :)

If Pat isn't interested in pursuing Nicki would the restraining order even matter anymore? He can move on and ignore that it's there. After the civil conversation they both have at the competition, I think its safe to assume she doesn't feel in danger and probably got it dropped later on (especially since she came to see him). The movie doesn't mention it anymore because Nicki is no longer really relevant after the end.

S

I didn't know you were giving orders here! Please excuse me for commenting about one of the movie's main conflicts - the restraining order 😂

Lena

oh brother...just enjoy this heartwarming film and move along

Yes, retail therapy is a big thing 🤣

Yessssss, Perks of Being A Wallflower

No worries, I usually prefer to be straight forward about my own stuff... not unlike Pat and Tiffany XD And sometimes when I don´t watch myself also about other peoples own stuff...also not unlike our protagonists. Growing up mental health talk was sparse or non existant so when I started discovering my own issues I just didn´t see a reason to keep it all hush hush, cause that´s what creates even more problems. And imo the ones who are arses about someones struggles or diagnosis are the real problem anyway. It can take such a long time to figure out what is actually going on even when a person is open about it like me or even more so... I got diagnosed with ADHD around when I got 30... now knowing stuff it fucking blows my mind that no other therapist or doctor ever even suggested it! And still I might not be quite done with my neurodivergent discovery trip... can´t imagine ever having gotten any answers if not for speaking up... aaand here we go XD another novel ... that´s partly that ADHD in me for sure XD sending you much love Kaley! And hugs if you like ém! X3

My brother is also bipolar, he's not diagnosed but he definitely has it and will get in these random moods and he talks just like Pat. He even quite a few times did what Pat did in the movie, wake my parents up in the middle of the night to ramble about nonsense. Whenever I watch that scene I just picture my parents reacting the same way, lol. And this film showed that with the right support system you can overcome it, your not cured or don't have hard moments but it's a lot easier to live with. My brother's support system was having his daughter, she changed everything for him because before he could never hold down a job and was quite irresponsible but not anymore. This film is just so good, I love it! The chemistry between everyone was great, the way they talk about mental health was so well done. I think it's pretty clear Tiffany was already starting to suffer depression before her husband died and it just increased afterwards. After finding out what happened to him it actually makes sense why she went down the path she did, she began to do the exact opposite as she was doing with her husband and that's how a lot of people do cope. And like he said in the movie I think he fell for her the second he saw her and that's why he immediately brought up about him being married, it wasn't a date at all. Cliff had it right about why he was pushing her away, he wasn't ready to give up Nikki yet. It's such a shame that Bradley didn't win the Oscar for this, Jennifer did and she was great but man Bradley was incredible. That scene where he breaks down because of the wedding video is so good but very intense, it feels like a real confrontation. I always feel so bad for him, not only is he suffering with the illness but is also heartbroken. I also loved seeing Chris Tucker again, it has been awhile and when I first saw him in the movie I thought he wouldn't fit in but he was great and showed he didn't have to always be loud and over the top. I love the dance, it's very bipolar, it's all over the place. And I love that they didn't nail the landing, it made it feel more real. And a fun fact, the scene where Robert talks to Bradley in the bed it was not in the script for him to cry, he just did that in the moment. Bradley's reaction was real, it really took him by surprise but that's why he's one of the greatest!

Mental health IS so important. I have a sweatshirt that’s a sort of spin on cooking shows that says, “if you can’t make your own serotonin, store-bought is fine.” 🤣

Kaley

Thank you for sharing and being so vulnerable. Totally agree with all of what you said! It was so great to be reminded that people who struggle with their mental health are worthy of love and worthy of being loved…and finding someone who understands what you’re going through really makes a difference!

Kaley

I love this movie so much ☺️ that scene where he's looking for his wedding video always makes me tear up a little. Bradley and Jennifer are amazing 👏🏿 great reaction 💚

Ronny H

Just wondering why Dave didn't write a review for this one?

Aria Isara

yes !!

I love this movie and I am so happy you loved it too! It was super fun rewatching it together with you. :) It feels like I always could see parts of me in both Tiffany and Pat, as it turned out later I got diagnosed with ADHD which especially in women often gets misdiagnosed first as bipolar disorder (thankfully this wasn´t the case for me though). So there we go... But the most important part of this movie to me is that it shows a story about two imperfect people with problems that cannot be swept under the rug and can and will impact their lives and the lives of those around them for the rest of their lives, who are surrounded by shit-ton of people full of their own weirdnesses and issues and yet Tiffany and Patrick still get to have their own fairytale ending. This movie always leaves me hopeful that such stories play out there in real life for people who have to struggle their whole lives and are often left at the mercy of ignorant folks or doctors who neither listen properly or believe their patients. Thank you for letting me grin and laugh with ya four today over this amazing story! :D

AbraxasBelzebub

Please please please consider watching la la land! Its so good!!!

Zoloft peep here 👋 I was hospitalized when I was 13. It was pretty bad. I hope you’re doing okay. Remember you’re not alone.

This is such an important movie. Mental health is so important and this movie nails it. A great TV series about mental health is on AppleTV called The Crowded Room. Definitely recommend.

Excited to see Jenifer in another movie other than hunger games and no hard feelings

I love this movie! I saw this film in theaters in 2013 when they rereleased it for Academy Award season and because Robert DeNiro was in it. This was the first film I saw Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in.

John F.

Oh my gosh, yes I am literally re-watching them right now

Cat

Those are on the list

Jennifer Lawrence won her Oscar for this film, and you can see why! I really love this movie and its accurate portrayal of bipolar disorder, specifically Bradley’s character’s manic episodes. I have depression and anxiety, and for a while I was afraid to go onto medication due to stigma, but eventually I realized how helpful it would be, and I’m so glad I did (where are my Zoloft peeps at?! LOL) I also had to be hospitalized for a very short time, and it was scary, but again, I’m so glad I did. It’s unfortunate that there’s still such a stigma, but I’m glad society is becoming more open to discussing mental health (needing to go in-patient to keep yourself safe is totally fine)! With all that in mind, the dinner scene where Bradley and Jennifer’s character’s are discussing their experiences with anti-depressants was so funny and wholesome-this film is so important to me!

Kaley

I'm not really into romance movies, but I thought this was done well. The mental health stuff makes it much more interesting.

Liam

I don’t know if you guys seen it, but if we haven’t, I really hope we are able to watch final destination one day. It’s so good.
