EARLY ACCESS: The Prince of Egypt FULL REACTION

LINK: The Prince of Egypt FULL REACTION

What an incredible cast this film boasts! Featuring the voices of Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes (Voldy... haha), Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, it's a star-studded lineup.

The animation in The Prince of Egypt is a hallmark of 90s cinema. The detailed depiction of ancient Egypt from grand palaces to vast deserts is impressive. The parting of the Red Sea scene stands out as particularly well-executed. We see in this film themes of identity, freedom, and faith with notable sensitivity and depth. It explores the moral and ethical dilemmas faced by its characters.

And then there's Hans Zimmer! He collaborated with Stephen Schwartz on several songs, creating a very entertaining soundtrack. The album also features two greats, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

This movie is so powerful. So heavy. You don’t even have to be religious to get the message.

Stephen Hert

I believe anyone can believe what they wish, but to say the bible has been proven historically accurate is just a ridiculous thing to say. How do you prove the book of Genesis as historical fact. Or really anything prior to recorded history?

Saynt Michael

The animation of the Red Sea took the artists 2 years to perfect

Leslie Woods

Triple this!!

Alexander Alayon Jr

I watched it as a young kid, I could follow the story but obviously as an adult I can also appreciate and notice the "heavier" parts of the movie more whereas when I was a kid it just went over my head. Back then, kids movies had more serious themes, it was the 90s after all. They also played this movie is church. I don't think they would make a big budget kids/family movie like this today, especially with the religious storyline and the really serious plot, so it's nice we were able to get this masterpiece. Loved the reaction. Other 'kids' movies with the adult plots from his time period are Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Atlantis Lost Empire

Lex

Yes but what would killing pharaoh have done? The next in line would have done the same thing or worse. Killing pharaoh wouldn’t have changed everyone else’s attitude and the way they treated the hebrews.

Raquel Perodin

No other version of this story shows that dynamic because there's no basis for it. The Bible doesn't show that they're brothers, or even that Moses knew the pharoah that he was facing. He grew up as a prince of Egypt under pharoah's DAUTHER, and then he left for years and didn't come back until he was an old man. I believe he was in his 80s or something when he returned to Egypt to confront Pharoah. This movie definitely added in the relationship between Moses and Pharoah to add some more personal conflict into the story.

Marco Gutierrez

Innocent children… very heroic of him lol.

Elizabeth Green

You can disagree with it, but you do so from a place of ignorance. To begin with, you disagree with it because you think death is permanent. Since we're discussing this narrative, then you also must accept that our life here on earth is only a temporary blip in the larger framework of our spiritual life. We move from this world onto the next world, where we suffer the consequences of our actions here. All of the firstborn that God killed *were* guilty, make no mistake about that. God has written His morality on our hearts, so we ALL know when something is good or evil. We can suppress that truth for our own convenience, but that doesn't change the fact that they KNEW they were commiting evil when they kept the Hebrews enslaved. EVERY Egyptian was guilty of this, not just Pharoah. To balance the scales of what Pharoah had done when he ordered the firstborn Hebrews killed, God did the same to the firstborn of Egypt. By the way, you might not know this since I'm assuming you didn't read the Bible itself, but Pharoah didn't just order the Egyptian soldiers to kill the firstborn. He ordered the civilians too, and when that wasn't enough he ordered the Hebrew MIDWIVES to do it too! He literally ordered them to kill their own people. What you're defending is evil, straight up. God is Justice, and when He smote the Egyptian pantheon down and proved that He alone is sovereign, He did so to mete out justice on an evil and wicked people.

Marco Gutierrez

There are multiple historical documents regarding the events of Exodus, as well as everything else in the Bible. The Bible itself is a collection of historical documents. You can disagree with it all you want, but its historicity has been verified multiple times. There are multiple examples of people or events across history that were deemed by secular scholars to just be fictional because only the Bible mentioned them , and then it turns out they were real. Historians don't call into question the historicity of the Bible, they simply don't like the fact that it makes supernatural claims. Dismissing something because it doesn't fit with your presuppositions is not academic or logically sound.

Marco Gutierrez

You're not looking at it from an academic point of view, you're looking at it from an antagonistic point of view. If you were being purely academic, you'd have noticed that Pharoah hardened his own heart before God ever did. What God did was keep Pharoah on the course that he had repeatedly chosen. God wasn't going to let Pharoah cause suffering and death for multiple plagues across all of Egypt, and then just decide to bow out the moment he started feeling the consequences himself. God made sure Pharoah stayed the course until Pharoah suffered as he had made others suffer too. And no, He didn't blame Pharoah's son for what his father did, He blamed Pharoah's son for what he did. Everyone is guilty of sin, and the Egyptians themselves were all guilty as a culture of multiple sins including population control of an entire people group and mass enslavement of that same people group. You clearly never read the story and probably just red some sparknotes version on r/atheism, because if you had then you'd realize these basic themes of the story.

Marco Gutierrez

You’re right. It’s biblically accurate - not historical. Not a single Egyptian text talks about rameses having a brother named Moses and there isn’t a single text about the plagues… why? Cause it didn’t happen. But if you’re strongly religions - it happened no matter what. Note - I am not religious. Nothing in the Bible has any historical accuracy or proof. I still love and adore this movie though.

Elizabeth Green

Same! It’s so overpowering! The music, the storyline, the lessons…

Elizabeth Green

100% second this. Please!!!

Elizabeth Green

You don't need to be a part of the religion to get the stories. Basically anything God does is morally correct, because he is the ultimate being. Anything humans do that we'd usually consider "abusive" or "genocidal" is actually loving and merciful when God does it. Humans are sinful and deserve any treatment we get. An atheist equivalent would probably be that we don't know why bad things happen, or why we suffer - we just do. It's a lot less comforting. Those who believe are generally happier, so it kinda sucks for those of us who simply can't, even if we want to.

Lena

Get saved, get baptized in the Holy Spirit, ask Him for help, then read it again. You'll get it.

Gabrielle Young

please do treasure planet

Amber Walker

I think this was most people's intro to the movie. I think it was just a movie day for us but I loved it because I was all about Egypt everything. I wasn't raised religious either and didn't pay attention to it being a retelling of a story until much later. It's just a good movie regardless of the intended audience.

Megan

I first watched this in history class I believe. At the time I was in late elementary school or early middle school. I was not raised religiously so I never knew it was a religious film. It wasn't until college when me and a friend were talking about the film. When I mentioned loving it as a child, she was amazed I liked a religious film. Just goes to show, you don't need to be religious to like it.

Kunzite Blossom

It's historically accurate for people who believe in God :)

J Knight

You don't realize until this movie that it really hammers home, that god, well this god (Jehovah) is extremely vengeful, and has no issue showing his divine malevolence. He killed all the first born, since the first pharaoh did the same. But the issue is here, is that he is blaming the son for what his father did. God literally got revenge for it, and this is backed up that god himself in the biblical lore says he is a vengeful god. Here is the kicker, in the biblical lore, it says that God himself hardened pharohs heart purposely, so it would be harder for him to make the decision to let the Jews go. This is just displaying his divine malevolence, to show how powerful he is. Remember: I am looking at this from an academic point of view, I am not religious. Also did God stop the Tornado early, just to cause tension, never understood that.

V

Well when you put it that way lol

V

No, it really isn't. Is there one or two Egyptian texts that mention a small group of people leaving Egypt because they didn't want to stay? Yes. But even scholars who suggest that it is plausible for there to be some truth in the biblical story admit there is no evidence to connect real world happenings to it. For example, "But there are one or two Egyptian documents that record the flight of a handful of people who had been brought to Egypt for one reason or other and who didn't want to stay there. Now, there is no direct evidence that such people were connected with the exodus narrative in the Bible." https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/bible/meyers.html#:~:text=But%20there%20are%20one%20or,exodus%20narrative%20in%20the%20Bible. There's also many "scholars" who will misconstrue or purposefully present false narratives about "evidence" to align with their religious agenda. I found a bunch when googling for your wall of text. But is there any comprehensive, peer reviewed evidence that the story of the Exodus in the bible is true? No.

Manny D.

Not a religious person but I do love this movie. RIP Ofra Haza who voiced Moses' mother and sang the intro/river song. Her voice is so beautiful, I still listen to the opening songs!

Megan

Hello there. It really is. Not so long ago there were archeological evidence found of the Exodus, also, some ancient writings in Egypt history that corroborate the event, I don't remember the name but to name one, there was like this wall with some text in an ancient language talking about the time when a "people" left Egypt. I'm bad with names but there is evidence

Alexiani Gollarza

Oak you probably recognize "When You Believe" because it was made for the movie and was sung by the incomparable Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Tanisha Jones

The events of the story of Exodus were real.

Esteban

This is the only mainstream production other than Asassin's Creed origins to portray Egyptians culturally and complexion-wise correctly. I can't count how many times I have watched a film based on ancient Egypt and rolled my eyes when they cast them as European with British accents. Like, this is ANCIENT EGYPT. Gods of Egypt and Exodus Gods and Kings just to name a few. This is the African and Middle Eastern peninsula, we need to do better.

COREY Ervin Scott-Johnson

I legit FEEL a strong emotion to this movie and I am not even religious . You feel a heavy heavy overpowering emotion, Damn what a nice reaction time you three

Patience

Honestly I felt the same way lol. I was like… literally several different way you could have taken this.

Elizabeth Green

Yeah. God was wildin in the Old Testament. Very vengeful.

Miya

I agree. I was so glad they spent a good amount of time showcasing Moses's relationship with his adoptive family. It really makes their parting and eventual fallout that much more heartbreaking and the internal struggle that Moses goes through that much more intense.

Miya

I’m not getting into religious accuracy because I’m not debating someone’s religion with them, but for all the people saying this is historically accurate, um what?? No, no this is not historically accurate. Except things like chariot racing and the way buildings were made. Besides that, this is all based on religious texts and not on historical documents. There are no historical documents coorborating the story of the Exodus. So while a very enjoyable movie and story, it’s not historically accurate.

Manny D.

As a non religious person, this is an amazing film. Definitely in the top 10 of best animations of all time. My favourite quote that gives me chills everytime: " I did not see, because i did not wish to see". Cant wait for the incredibles next!

AyaaChann

Ariana grande and Cynthia Erivo just sang “when you believe” this year at the met gala, the clips of that performance was soooo good !!! They sounded amazing !!

Lily

I really love the musicality of this soundtrack and score. Whenever Moses is confronting his Jewish heritage, the lullaby motif is played!

Kaley

Have u guys watched Atlantis the lost empire?

Giselle Hernandez Torres

Who knew a movie about slavery, sex trafficking, genocide, and animal sacrifice could be so beautiful? The power of art...

Lena

You guys should checkout Stardust!

BugBite23

It’s hands down one of the best biblical movies out there. They should watch Joseph: King of Dreams next!

Esteban

One of the best biblical movies out there🥹❤️

Esteban

My Guy Diamond Dave missed out on a a banger of a film. I Love this movie. No matter our circumstances, God is so Good always🙏🏼❤️

Esteban

I would say I’m pretty religious and I’m a Christian. I this movie along with veggie tales is something I was brought up on and while there are a few inaccuracies in the biblical story it is pretty accurate historically and biblically still. It is an amazing story and one of my favorites in the Old Testament right along side Esther’s story. This movie touches on so much from the story but I love how they portray Moses’s feelings. His betrayal, confusion, his love to his known family and the family he just learned of. Anyways great video and have a great night y’all.

Abigail.M

Grew up going to church but definitely wasn’t the super religious type. Movie came out when I was 5. I didn’t see it in theaters but definitely saw it very young and had the vhs. Honesty taught me the story of exodus and one of my most watched movies as a child

Jordan Belfort

I'm not religious but I love this movie. It's stunning and the soundtrack is amazing!

BugBite23

Great reaction guys to and great movie to answer your question about churches using this story for lessons in Sunday school at least where I went to church as a kid yes they did use this story obviously as a child I didn’t really get at the time and appreciate it plus I didn’t go to church consistently until late middle school

Anthony Velasquez

Not sure if someone mentioned it but the song When You Believe is made for this film, so this is the original version. You are probably recognizing it though because Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey covered it. It's a popular song to be covered. I actually think the most beautiful version of this was sang by Chloë Agnew from the Celtic Woman album Songs From The Heart. I know it's completely outside of this, but I honestly think you'd enjoy it. The Official video is on YouTube I hope you might watch it. They have TV specials for almost all of their albums and I think you'd really enjoy hearing that rendition.

Sarah

I still disagree with killing children. It wasn’t any different than what the pharaoh did, just the reasonings. He could have… idk killed the Pharaoh instead.. or all the fathers literally he had choices.

Elizabeth Green

Well pharaoh killed all the baby boys that were born because he thought there would be too many of them and that they would take over and he was afraid he wouldn’t be in power anymore. Ke killed for selfish reasons. Remember God had created many miracles before in order to prove his existence and pharaoh repeated hardened his heart. Everyone was told, everyone was warned of the plague of the first born, even all the Egyptians. Moses did tell pharaoh what would happen, he told him what he needed to do, but since the priest were able to mimic the plagues before pharaoh still didn’t believe in God. Absolutely nothing was working to get the hebrews out of Egypt. But God knew that the Passover was the thing that would finally let them be free. He had tried everything he could before, nothing worked. He warned everyone and told them exactly what to do for them to be spared. He didn’t just kill, he gave instructions and warning to everyone. He was bringing his people out of years of slavery and torture. It saddened him a great deal when people didn’t heed his warning and the firstborn were killed, he didn’t want it to happen he did everything to warn everyone.

Raquel Perodin

I love this movie, as a little kid I didn't appreciate this , only as a movie to do homework for church lessons. We used to watch this and write notes what they got right from the Bible and etc. "Playing with big boys" song scared me cause I thought it sounded demonic. We weren't allowed to say there were more than one God. So that scene felt a bit uncomfortable to me, it felt taboo.

beautiful bliss

Thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to check out this movie so many of us have recommended and seeing why we love it! As soon as I got home from work I was syncing the movie to start and watch along. I remember really being scared of some parts of the movie and used to fast forward during those when I was a kid. But the soundtrack is so good and it’s hard not to sing along now. I was 7 when it came out and I think we watched it back then. Got the vhs as a Christmas gift one year

Rochelle (mascara_problems)

Thanks for reacting to this absolute classic! two little things: first, I know it's hard, but try not to get too distracted guessing which actor voices which character, because sometimes you can miss important details of the story :c Second, just because something is animated doesn't mean it's for kids. Still, even if kids are the target audience, it's exciting to see how adults can appreciate so much better the themes and symbolism included in stories that a child normally wouldn't notice. Always remember that animation is not a genre, but a storytelling medium! <3

jvs

Love this movie!!!! I recommend Brother Bear (2003), The land before Time (1988) and An American Tail (1986).

SailorChristy91

Wonderful reaction ❤️ I would like to suggest Into the Woods (2014) or Chicago (2002) they are amazing musicals and I really think you’d guys like the music. Maybe you guys could add it to your suggestion list! :) Thank you for all your hard work.

Emily G

Ugh, when Esmeralda sings “The Outcasts” song 😭 in the feels every time and I’m not even religious. It’s also dark considering if you listen to Frolo’s song about his “sin” … don’t want to give too much away but never realized it until I was older. So goood! Side note: my first cat ever was named Pheobus caused I had a mad crush on him lmao

Elizabeth Green

Omg Atlantis is so amazing. Yall they should have an animated movie month so they can catch up on all our favorites 🤣

Elizabeth Green

Same, it’s a beautiful story with so many lessons to take away ♥️

Elizabeth Green

SAME lol. Idk how I’ve missed this when I’ve watched it a thousand times 🤣

Elizabeth Green

OMG SAME! I was actually yelling at them he was just humming it with Rameses!! Lol

Elizabeth Green

Anastasia is my favorite movie EVER! The soundtrack on that is great too. Would love to see Rise of the Guardians as well, it's been on a poll so I'm sure they'll get to it.

Bri

I read this in Marcus from Twilight's voice and I hope that was on purpose lol

Bri

I just got that too. I also just assumed it was that he subconsciously knew it the whole time/repressed memories etc.

Kaley

Man I haven't seen this movie in over 20 years so it's like a first time watch for me all over again. I remembered bawling my eyes out the first time I watched this and it's probably why I never saw it again. I tend to avoid movies that make me bawl like a baby a second watch lol. I didn't cry as much this time but it was still such a heartfelt movie. I'm glad you guys got to finally watch this masterpiece.

Bunnie

Second Treasure Planet and Rise of the Guardians! Such amazing movies!!!

Elizabeth Green

I absolutely love this movie. When I was a kid, I didn't see it as dark because I knew the story and I was more into the animation and song. Now that I'm older, it hits so hard. I was getting a little teary eyed watching along with the reaction. Truly beautiful. I am not religious but the values throughout the film are so powerful

Eva

Atlantis!!!

Eva

I completely agree. I didn't see it as dark until later. It was the beautiful animation and the music

Eva

I just got that too. I also just assumed it was that he subconsciously knew it the whole time/repressed memories etc.

Kaley

Personally, I’m not religious (more spiritual if anything or had to label it). But this is one of my absolutely favorite movies about a biblical story, ever. With that said… the part where Moses’ father explains the children being killed were “sacrifices must be made” I always wondered… what was the difference between what the Pharaoh did and what God did towards the end? It actually always made me so angry cause it’s always shouted that children are innocent.. but then all the first born are “killed” for not believing in the Hebrews version of God. This is just me, but it always breaks me apart (as a mother) when Rameses stands over his sons body and Moses feels so fuckin terrible about what happened even though he tried so much to avoid it. While there is absolutely no history from Egypt that this ever occurred (none about Moses, the plagues, or anything in general), I love the story line, the morals taught, as well as the animation and music. I could watch this movie a million times and never get over the moving moments that this movie always gives me. Especially Zipporah’s dad and his song. But, idk if I can ever be for killing children regardless of the circumstances. It felt like an “eye for an eye” thing and it just makes me so angry lol. I also could never imagine being so close to my sibling and having to go to “war” so to speak the way Moses had to with Rameses, even though Moses cared so much for Rameses. But it’s one of the morals of the story to do what’s right no matter how hard and devastating it can be. Also, my favorite song as a kid was “playing with the big boys now” 🤣🤣 it was so catchy!! I loved it! Lol Otherwise, it’s an amazing story and I freaking LOVE Egyptian mythology and history. I love the hieroglyphics they added, the pyramids, the building of the statues. Ugh it’s just all brilliant. & even though a lot of this never happened, historically and factual speaking (imo withholding religious beliefs), it’s still absolutely brilliant and perfection ♥️ Thank yall for reacting to this! I’ve been waiting forever! Lol

Elizabeth Green

As a kid, apparently, my favorite phrase was “Ramses, let my people go!!!” Loved this movie as a kid and thoroughly enjoyed rewatching with y’all! Great reaction 🎉

Angelina

My jaw just dropped! I had no idea you all were reviewing this one this month. Yay! ETA: Okay, the way I cackled when Oak said "Jesus" and Mason said, "Well...not yet." I had to pause the reaction to laugh. 😂

Miya

By the way, Val Kilmer reprised his role as Moses on Broadway.

Lauren

I've seen this movie so many times, but it's only just during this rewatch that i noticed that Moses was humming the lullaby his mom sang in the scene where he goes to comfort his brother towards the beginning after they get scolded by the pharaoh... it makes more sense then that he's shocked by his sister singing the song.

Jennifer J

This movie is an absolute masterpiece. The music and animation are always revered, but I want to talk about the screenwriting. To put the relationship between Moses and Ramses at the forefront was a genius way to build character development. It really highlighted the humanity aspect of the story and made the rift between the brothers more heartbreaking. Strip away the biblical or religious aspect, you have a really compelling coming of age story.

Lauren

So I've seen this movie quite a few times, but I never noticed until watching it again with you guys that Moses is humming the song his mother sang to him as an infant when he is sewing the bag to fill with punch and prank the high priests.

Calcifer

Oak, I also was raised Catholic and also went to Catholic grade school. I'm now in my 30s and agnostic, but still treasure this movie. Not only because of its music and animation but because, whether or not you subscribe to the Christian faith, there is still so much to be learned from this story. I'm so glad you guys finally got around to watching this. Also, to answer your question, after this was released, it was absolutely shown in classrooms during "religious studies" classes.

Maggie Barbour

Treasure Planet for sure, and Atlantis

MynamecouldB

I love this movie! Incredibly breathtaking and great music, this and Joseph king of dreams I had on dvd and watched on my dvd player all the time. I’m pretty sure I did watch it in church. I even remember taking the movie to school and the whole class watching it for movie day.

Raquel Perodin

I did not grow up religious by any means but this was one of my absolute favorite movies growing up. Beautiful animation and music. A masterpiece that still holds up today.

Ari

WAHHH FINALLY!

Calcifer

I was so excited to see this reaction on the list for this month! I LOVE this movie. The score and animation are breathtaking! I first saw this movie between 6-8 years old. Growing up with the bible story I never really saw this movie as dark as a kid. It was just really neat to get to see it animated. What stuck with me as a child were the songs & the cool scenes like the burning bush & parting of the Red Sea. Over the years the older I've gotten the more I'm able to appreciate the depth of the depiction they went for. One thing I caught this time that I hadn't before was that Moses whistles his mothers lullaby to himself when he's first talking to Rameses in the beginning (when Rameses is sitting on the statue). It shows he remembered the tune even if not the lyrics & helps explain a little better why he stopped when his sister began to sing the lullaby after revealing the truth behind his parentage.

Roky

I’ve seen this film several times. The third act always gives me chills and tears.

John F.

will you guys be watching jospeh king of dreams? it is also by dreamworks

e

I love this movie! I suggest watching Rise of the Guardians (2012), Treasure Planet (2002), and Anastasia (1997) EDIT: I also remembered Quest For Camelot (1998)

Emilysr97

My favourite animated movie. Whether you know the story and are religious or not, the stunning visuals and animation, the powerful score, the heavy subject matter and themes as well as the incredible voice cast, it's hard to find one that beats this for me. I always recommend this in terms of animated movies to watch, I've been waiting till the day came that you guys saw this one, I'm so happy 😊 love your reactions guys! Also can't wait for the incredibles 1&2!

Alex Turnbull

Such a beautiful movie.

Essence Mason

When I tell you I subscribed on patreon just to get access to this full reaction, I absolutely did in a heartbeat! This is one of my favorite movies! The cast, the soundtrack, the animation... that paired with nostalgia makes this one of my go too favorite movies.

Hannah Jex

Yea, Hans was COOKIN with this score! This was one of the first movies I actually went back and listened to the soundtrack too.

Yolo Samurai

No matter how many times I see this, my heart breaks to see what these characters go through. The music, writing, and acting are top-notch.

Choux D Bruxelles

the parting of the Red Sea sequence took two years to complete by ten animators.

Alyssa Dyson

This film is incredible, it's definitely one of my favorite animated films and I've mentioned this before but it's my favorite from Dreamworks. Yeah, this for sure warrants the PG rating, definitely meant for adults more then children, although I watched this a lot when I was younger. Everything is done perfectly, the animation is beautiful, the visual storytelling is so good, one of my favorite moments is when Moses gives back the ring, the different facial expressions on Rameses in the matter of seconds was perfect. The music always gives me goosebumps, the songs did a great job with helping telling the story, you would lose so much without them. The plaque scene is my favorite song and one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie, that shot of combining Moses and Rameses faces together was amazing. Rameses is one of my favorite villains of all time, he is so complex and you do or at least I do feel bad for him. You totally get where he's coming from, he definitely has been brainwashed by his father and has way too much pride. I love how they explore the brother dynamic between them, I'm pretty sure this is the only version that really dives into that part, I haven't seen all of The 10 Commandments but I don't recall them showing any brother relationship, like you wouldn't have known they grew up together. Val Kilmer and Ralph Fiennes were amazing, it was like they were preforming this live. It's performances like this that make me wish voice work performances were nominated for awards. I don't know if they recorded together but it felt like they were right next to each other, it definitely wasn't just another payday for them. And yeah, this cast was just stacked with great talent and not to mention talented artists for the soundtrack, you can't get better then Whitney and Mairah, also Amy Grant is also on the soundtrack and she's also great.

Annie519

Yes!!!! I’ve been waiting for this for ages! So glad you guys loved. My favourite animation by far. First watched it when I was 12 in 98.

Alexandra ASMR

Let’s Go! This is one of the greatest animated films of all time.

John F.

I was like 7 or 8. My mom made me watch this along with Roots like it was a class assignment 😂😭

Brittany McGee

I think if you grew up with the story and you’ve read it so much you were excited to see it on screen, especially animated as a kid. The first time I saw it was in church and I was about 9 or 10 and of course the heavy parts I was kinda like huh?! But just seeing the plagues and the splitting of the Red Sea I just remember as a kid I was so excited to see everything so I’m not sure if we thought of it as heavy or “dark at the time”

Tacara Wright

Oh, Wow. So glad you gents gave this one a watch This is one of the most breathtaking films I’ve seen. I recall the true awe and wonder I felt watching this the first time as a child, and now even twenty some years later it’s just as marvellous as it was then. Not only a great depiction of historical events, but so well acted and animated. I get shivers every time Moses has an encounter with God, and the soundtrack and instrumentals always make me tear up. It’s like when we’re watching them, I’m literally experiencing the grandiose-ness of Gods presence myself, if that makes sense. You should definitely check out Joseph King Of Dreams at some point down the line as well. It’s also made by DreamWorks and was meant I believe to be a companion piece to the Prince Of Egypt. The cast is crazy as well!

Juliet

Another great one from DreamWorks is "Joseph King of Dreams"!

CM

Fi-na-lly 😇💘

Mariia K

First time watching this since I was a kid and WOW, there are songs in it i didn't realize have been living in the back of my head for 25 years.

JessTellsTales

WHEN DO THE BOYS SEASON 4 TRACKS COME OUT IM ITCHING?!?!?!

Ryan

Trying not to spam, but I must comment on this: Moses’ relationship with his adopted family makes me weep like a baby. His adoptive mother trying to smooth it over not because she WANTS him to forget, but because they’d have to to survive this. And she wants things to be *okay*. And Rameses desperately trying to keep his brother in his life as hes leaving. This whole movie did a wonderful job at all the characters, but those three specifically mean so so much to me and my monkey brain.

slavicandsapphic

The true miracle is Moses not dying of shaken baby syndrome 💀

slavicandsapphic

Wow, I'm reading the description and I only knew about Sandra Bullock, clearly I have not looked up the cast as an adult. What an insane amount of stars and musicians, no wonder it's so good! I used to watch this all the time growing up. Can't wait to watch it with y'all and my daughter, she hasn't seen it yet.

Bri

I think one of the reasons I love it is cause, as a Jewish person, I get to show this movie to my non-Jewish/non-religious friends and they all enjoy the fuck out of it. And I get to yap about all the lil easter eggs in the movie :] its such a wonderful masterpiece that brings so many together
