But I’d argue that this also has to do with Shogun. No spoilers but… yeah, bear this in mind guys!

Hey guys, kiwi scriptwriter here saw the live and thought I'd 2cents RE: Ghibl so you might be more comfortable in the future. You've stumbled across a story structure less familiar in the "west" that can seem meandering and aimless if we look for the traditional landmarks we're used to seeing in film (I'm using east and west loosely for contrast. Both structures are used around the world) In traditional "western" stories, tension is in the plot and builds to a conflict. In "eastern" stories tension is in the audiences' emotional engagement and builds to a "twist." The twist isn't necessarily a change in story direction (though it may be), but a disruption to the audience expectations. It may be a new perspective, a piece of information, a change in atmosphere or an unexpected development . (Your "What's going on... !?!" moments). Western stories resolve conflict, eastern stories reconcile the twist so the audience understands the story differently. (Your “Aha!"..."So, that's why...!" Moments) Also, in "western" plots, the world and other characters exist to serve the hero along their path, In "eastern" plots the world, other character's and story already exist and the hero makes their way amongst them. The story doesn't always follow the main character or their goals and obstacles. The anime Haikyuu is the BEST example of this (I would consider it on your list). There are tons of "western" stories that follow this structure, Cinderella, Little Red Riding hood, House MD. The Bill and Frank episode of "The Last of Us", Be kind to yourselves I love to see your insights.

Recalling back to Episode 5, what Mariko said to John, ‘If freedom is what you live for, you’ll never be free from yourself’… EXCEPTIONALLY IMPORTANT to remember as it is a crucial phrase to comment on what’s happening in the last two episode…
