Nope, I actually thought about that as I typed the comment. It's actually inconsistent how light/heavy titan's are. Reiner was struggling to carry the 10 ft titan on his back, when the cadets were trapped inside the castle. Ntm how many times we see soldiers struggling within the grasp of titan's - even in this episode. I decided to post my comment anyway because it's light-hearted and funny to think about. Yeah I gotta agree with them that it hasn't been explained fully. When I first watched AOT, the flashbacks with Ymir didn't make that much sense. I actually couldn't understand the connection between them kicking her off the wall and her turning into a titan, but these guys saw the syringe. I never caught that. The full answer doesn't come until later. It's only on second viewing that the explanation seems clear as day. Btw, I also purchased a subcription to Crunchyroll for this. 😂I live in Italy and so all the anime on Netflix have italian subtitles only.

The thing about that is it has a lot to do with tonality and emphasis on certain vowels. Just like with the Spanish language, there’s certain words and phrases that sound “dramatic” not because the word itself is dramatic, but because the vowels/consonants used have a different emphasis than others. Its not “being over the top”, that’s just the way those phrases sound, and when you’re watching something that’s set up to be a life or death situation, I expect there to be URGENCY and ANXIETY in the conversations being had. You cannot watch someone fighting for their life and talk like they’re debating if the grass is green. And also, if you prefer to watch something the way you want then by all means. Not everything is for everyone and that is OK.

Japanese voice acting is so overacted that it's like a caricature of humanity. They think that if you aren't tearing your vocal chords, then you aren't displaying any emotion. I completely forgot about that fact until reading your comment. I hope they see this given how much they praise the voice acting in this show. Like yes anyone can do a voice over but not many can execute the raw emotions satisfyingly enough for such a high stakes scene such as that one. Also, ngl, when I first watched that part I literally did the same thing, I was in so much shock/pain that I laugh cried. It made my mother concerned LOL. It was at that point that I realized the show made me emotionally unbalanced LOOL.

the reactions have been fantastic, thanks to the oak for mentioning the voice acting! eren's emotional breakdown is probably one of the best voice acting scenes i've seen in my entire life lol, correct me if i'm wrong but, i believe yuki kaji (eren's voice actor) was given full reign of that scene without direction. he was told to do whatever he felt was right for eren in that moment and they just matched the animation to it, he's a legend!! also props to armin's master manipulator scene as well, his voice actress portrayed the malice behind his words sooo well! i just want to take some time to appreciate ymir's character, i feel like we lose track of how beautifully written she is on the first watch because we're losing our minds over all the crazy stuff we're experiencing at the same time on this arc. when ymir wakes up from 60 long years as a titan, she gazes up at the starry night sky with tears in her eyes as she realizes her newfound freedom. now, she yet again gazes up at the starry night sky with tears in her eyes as she chooses to give up her freedom by going with reiner and bertholdt. in the end, she still couldn't stop living for others. love is portrayed in such tragic ways in this show and in very specific occasions, ymir being one of the instruments for it is what makes her one of my favorite characters. now, buckle up!!! next season has one of the best arcs in all anime and has episodes with some of the highest ratings of all time on IMDB, yeah i'm hyping it up this much!! ya'll are about to lose your minds, thanks for the reactions!!

Yuki Kaji - The voice actor for Eren, actually TORE his vocal chords during the recording of the final scream (the one before Eren and the titan connected hands). Yuki had to take just over 3 months off all work to recover. The recording we hear, is the one he tore them on.

I'm so impressed by Oak overview for this series, I think is very refreshing to see someone who is very new to this media enjoying it so much, and of course he was the one to point out the voice acting and how much it contributes to this experience and he's totally right, voice acting is the entire soul of projects like AoT. Now, season 3 part 1 is a little slow for me but has it's moments, but season 3 part 2 is peak AoT and the best season of AoT by a mile, so really excited for that.

Yaaay, ratings are back! 😁 Loved Oak's 5s, that's what I love to see! 🫡 This episode is brilliant on so many levels, but the thing that I always remember about it is the scene where Eren is laugh-crying after he couldn't transform and Hannes died. The Japanese voice acting is so, so good for that scene. I'm a bit daft when it comes to this aspect of anime, I kind of take the voice acting for granted usually. This was the first time I actually noticed the brilliance of the voice acting and could truly appreciate that talent. Yuki Kaji is phenomenal. 😊❤️

There actually is a live action, but I would not recommend it, lol. I thought about watching it, but the reviews were… not in its favor, to put it lightly, so I decided not to. From what I understand, the live action butchered the plot, the characters, everything. Based off of reviews, apparently fans of AoT say that the live action movie is a whole separate thing from the show, with absolutely no connection, and if someone watches it, they should do it without expecting it to have similarity to the show.

I just thought I'd point out (spoiler-free) that Ymir and Historia's relationship wasn't purely platonic, while it's quite ambiguous and is never said outright (and cuz of different translations) it is heavily implied they were in love, which justifies their actions towards and for each other (a director also confirmed the relationship). They were even nominated for "Best Couple" at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2020!

Fun fact: Eren and Mikasa were supposed to kiss during her confession scene but Isayama (the creator) decided not to cause he was embarrassed In all honestly, I like that Eren didn’t take the kiss because it showed that he wasn’t willing to give up and let both of them die. What he did was sweeter than a kiss. Telling her he’ll wrap the scarf around her whenever she wants while trying to protect both of them at the same time is just so precious to me
