You could argue that the first moment was Eren being a titan, but considering that happens really early on and it's kind of the revolving premise of the whole show, I find this episode to be the first real Earth-shattering reveal. The crazy thing though? This reveal will seem minor compared to the next one, and that will seem minor compared to the one after that. This series does such an insanely good job of just shattering the ceiling of what you thought was good before. Trust me when I say by the time you get to the final season, these *incredible* episodes will seem mediocre by comparison!

In the sub, it's put right there in the subtitles just like every other piece of normal dialogue, so you give it the same attention as normal. In the dub, however, their conversation is muted and off in the background, with the main audio being that of the other scouts as the camera follows them away. It's so much more of a casual and shocking reveal in the dub, not to mention that the "traitors" line and the titan roars sound sooooo much better in the dub than sub.

It’s like our brains literally can’t process wtf he just said until shit hits the fan. I remember just being like “wait what? Did I misread that? Is this the right translation?” Until it went down and I stayed staring at my screen for a good solid 10 minutes after credits rolled cause I was in such disbelief that I literally couldn’t believe what the hell I just saw. All in all.. FANTASTIC reveal eh??!

I was like wait what? Is he for real? Actually this episode was what made me read the manga. So cool but anyways love the reactions and there's plenty more to come.

Just the way it was written and "shot", the suspense build-up, the way Reiner just spills everything like he's sitting and chatting with Eren over a cup of coffee, the music while they're transforming, and Eren's disbelief and heartbreak just turning into incandescent rage at the end. ❤️❤️❤️ It's genius.

2024-04-29 18:19:52 +0000 UTC"I want to know who else can turn into a titan" wish granted 😂😂 Some fun nuggets for the episode: The author asked Reiner's voice actor to deliver the reveal like he'd just sat down for a chat over tea with Eren 😂 There are literal Red Flags waving in the background when Reiner and Bert are talking on the wall with Eren, the LARGEST one being centre screen when Reiner drops 'The Line'. Throughout season 1, some animators were given specific instructions by the director on how to animate both Reiner and Bert in certain scenes for facial expressions, eye direction, and body language, even if they were just characters in the background. The animators weren't told why (only the director and author knew) and didn't learn until the titan reveal happened in the manga between S1 and S2. So scenes that look like nothing on a first watch of S1 makes them look sus on a re-watch.

If you go back and rewatch you’ll notice mikasa lurking and continuously looking back while Erin was talking with them. That was a clue that something was building and expected to happen. I love the way the reveal was more of a background conversation. And if you weren’t paying attention you just might miss it lol I literally had to rewind that part the first time I saw it. I thought I was misunderstanding something. Then my jaw just dropped realizing what was happening lol ….. can’t wait for you guys to see what more is in store ! We’re in for a wild ride.
