Added 2024-04-12 18:36:26 +0000 UTCWhat a thrill ride this film is! Prabhas, who we know for his role in Baahubali, shines in the action sequences, showcasing his impressive skills. One standout moment is when, amid a fight, Prabhas casually lights a cigarette and then, with total swagger, puts on his glasses. The action itself is like a character in its own right.
We begin with the timeless story of friendship between Varadha and Deva, set against the backdrop of the legendary Khansar. Jumping to the present day, Deva (played by Prabhas) is now a reserved mechanic in Assam. The narrative intertwines past and present in a non-linear fashion, keeping you engaged throughout.
This film's action and cinematography set it apart from many other recent Telugu movies we've seen recently. Although the three-hour runtime didn't feel long to us, we can see how it might be for some. What was your reaction to Salaar Part 1? Are you looking forward to Part 2?

2024-04-13 05:26:56 +0000 UTCOooh I missed this notification, I know what I'll be watching today! π I'm excited for part 2 but even more so for another big release Prabhas has this year, Kalki 2898 AD, a sci fi movie with also Kamal Haasan (the main actor in Vikram). Here are my recommendations for your next Indian movie: JAWAN (Netflix), the biggest Indian blockbuster in 2023. To compare, it grossed 1100 crores rupies, and Salaar is 4th with a gross of 700 crores (1 crore rupies = 10 million rupies, so 1100 crores rupies is 11 billion rupies). It's the 5th highest grosser of all time in India after Dangal, Baahubali 2, RRR and KGF 2. It's a highly entertaining action movie with social messages. The lead actor is Shah Rukh Khan (SRK), undisputably the biggest star in India (he's often called "the King", or "King of Bollywood"). ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHANI (Amazon Prime) another 2023 Hindi hit (10th highest grosser that year). Romcom/family drama directed by Karan Johar, who previously directed other major blockbusters, modern classics even, in that genre. Out of your comfort zone but that's also what's fun about reactions and I think you'd truly enjoy this one. It has a lot of humour, magnificent musical numbers, an endearing story, with a message about gender equality that is positive for both men and women, and a cool cast (main female role held by Alia Bhatt who was Sita in RRR and is one of the most renowned young actresses in India). JAILER (Prime) the highest grossing Tamil movie in 2023, just above Leo. With the Tamil superstar Rajnikanth. A very fun action movie with dark humour. You guys would very much enjoy it I think! MAAVEERAN (Prime) a 2023 Tamil hit, it's a different kind of superhero movie, with really cool action and a good dose of humour. BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN (Prime) a 2015 Hindi blockbuster with Salman Khan (unrelated to Shah Rukh Khan but along with Aamir Khan, whom you know from 3 Idiots, they are known as "the 3 Khans", the 3 biggest Bollywood superstars). A moving comedy drama written by V. Vijayendra Prasad, who is none other than SS Rajamouli's dad (he also wrote almost all of his son's movies including Baahubali and RRR). ANDHADHUN a very renowned 2018 Hindi thriller with dark humour, quite different from the other Indian movies you've seen so far. Not sure if it's streaming anywhere though or only possible to buy/rent on Amazon. JIGARTHANDA a 2014 gangster movie/dark comedy, both on Youtube and Prime. It's very renowned too and the loosely connected prequel released last year is IMO the best movie of 2023. Can't wait to see what you pick next (might not be one of these lol). Still hoping you can squeeze 1 Indian movie a month π Or if you want to try an Indian series, The Family Man on Amazon Prime is excellent and right up your alley (suspense/action/humour). A 3rd season is in the making.
