EARLY ACCESS: Fallout 1x1 FULL REACTION

What an exceptional start! We came in without any expectations, but the impact was immediate. The storytelling was compelling, the character introductions were executed brilliantly, and the action sequences were unlike anything we've seen on screen before. Although we haven't played the game, this episode has certainly piqued our interest.

For those who are familiar with the game, did the episode meet your expectations?

EARLY ACCESS: Fallout 1x1 FULL REACTION

So I'm not sayin nothin about Fallout coz everyone else did a good job fillin in all the info.. But man I will say.. The one dude sayin West World season 1 is a banger, the rest of the seasons well.... That is the truth.. I stopped watchin it around season 3 coz it got to the point where I was just like bored out of my mind and just watchin it to just finish it and man.. What a waste. I actually thought season 2 was good but man.. season 3 just went Tokyo 2077 / Deus Ex on us. It went from Little House on the Prairie to Akira.

Alex

I enjoyed starting this show with your reaction! 😀

Aria Isara

EP 8 SPOILER ALERT BELOW

So in the Fallout universe the bombs dropped in 2077. Its basically if in the 1950's instead of focusing on nuclear energy to make weapons, humanity used it to create the idyllic future they imagined using atomic energy, keeping the same 50's vibe but with some atomic futuristic tech and advancements.

RogueOstriches7

The show is soooo much like the games. The aesthetic and tone especially. I definitely spent the first three episodes at least geeking out about all of the little details. It does a very good job getting the feel right without relying too much on retreading what the games have already put in place...so it just feels like a new story being told in a very familiar setting. It'll be interesting seeing it from the perspective of people who don't know anything about the world.

The Animated Heroine

Almost all the songs used for the show come from the games.

Sandra

I would love to see you guys play a Fallout game!

Sandra

They did such a great job with the show. Played the games and their spot on

Drizzt

Yesss severance please

Jonathan Bodford

There are many Easter eggs in the game. The syringe used by lucy to treat her wound is also a part of it. As Oak has pointed out, the game is set in a futuristic 50s era. The other characters and factions introduced in the game are also a significant part of it

Arudorin

couldnt stop laughing when i saw the junkjet :D so far this is one of those rare ones that are good for fans of the games and good for those that havent got a clue

Sam Harris

Awesome cant wait!!!

Steven K

I know nothing about this world but I think they did a great job setting it up and im intrigued to see where it goes.

Alyssa Dyson

Haha we have it on the list

Badd Medicine

I suggested Severance so often but no reply😅🥲

DustinEatWorld

Just wait until you get into the back half of the season. I just watched episodes 6 and 7 and holy hell are they good.

Jeff K

So glad Zach Cherry is in this. Yall have got to check out Severance one day such an amazing show and great cast. Guaranteed 5/5

Steven K

I was wary but excited for the show and so far I’m pretty pleased:) if you guys enjoy the show, you’ll definitely love the games!!

Lucky

This show is certainly interesting so far. Started getting a bit average at the end, but I'm excited for the next 6/7 weeks 😁

J Knight

Wow really? I didn't know that

the girl who plays Lucy voices Jinx on Arcane

Belly p.

Well after the first episode I can say I am happy with it so far, just some of the acting I am not to keen on yet, cant wait to see how it goes on, btw. as far as I could tell, the songs they used are all the same as in the games, where you have a radio which plays these songs if u turn it on.

samuel Jakob

When I first played Fallout it was back in 1997, it was a top-down isometric RPG. But when Bethesda bought the license they went with a first-person/third-person. I would say that it's closer to a looter shooter than an RPG nowadays.

hex1c

There are 122, FYI

Jeff K

"How many vaults are there" Well idk the number myself but in Fallout 4 you're in Vault 111, so at least more than that xD

Emily

Ready willing and able! Let's go!

Zack Sutton

I'm a HUGE fallout fan!! So excited I've played part of 1 and 2 I've been 3 and new vegas so many times 1000s of hours between the two and fallout 4 is ok . I'm as excited as I was when I first found your channel and you had just put out the 2nd Harry potter movie reaction.

Zack Sutton

Not that they look or act alike, but for some reason Amir/Maximus reminded me of Chance/Andre from Gen V so I felt kind of sad, but absolutely love Walton. I also hear Boyd whenever he speaks lol but this was fun!

Dee

They captured the feel of the games completely it was awesome.

Apollo

As a Fallout noob (I've only ever played a few hours of Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4) but a gamer through and through, I really like the show so far It seems to have caught the vibe from the games to a T, with goofy things, disturbing things, horrific things all mixed together in this semi-50s style

Emily

Yeah that’s the important thing to remember when they decide which game to play: it’s a shared universe with the same overarching lore, but there’s very, very minimal crossover between any of the games (outside of a few NPCs who pop up in multiple games, and references to some events from previous games that don’t actually impact the story of the game you’re playing).

Jeff K

I'm really happy with how the show came out. It has the vibes of the games. If you all ever play the games, I do recommend Fallout 4. It is the most accessible game, and each one has its own story so you don't have to follow order.

MynamecouldB

Yeah, Bethesda knows what they're doing, suddenly releasing a next-gen update for Fallout 4 and making Fallout 3 and New Vegas free on Amazon Luna (yes, that's still a thing; obviously since this is an Amazon show, it makes sense they'd have that deal in place with Amazon's game streaming platform). EDIT: And now they're giving away Fallout 76 if you're a Prime member, through Prime gaming (for both Xbox and PC).

Jeff K

This show is going to make download New Vegas again isn't it? There goes 60+ hours. Hail Ceasar!

Kwisatz

and every vault has his onw experiment going on

Rix Morris

I do really love the changes, especially since I agree 100% with the decade makes a difference point. Especially if the events of lonesome road happened, shady sands was far from the only post war NCR territory to be bombed.

Cl4-tp gaming Channel

Love Oxhorns vids(and his beard) but I mean this is the definitive standard of fallout to me, even tho it messes with some of the lore, there’s also a shit ton of references to fallout 1 and 2, doing a rewatch and picking up way more. Glad to see I’m not the only fallout lore nerd who likes this adaptation.

Cl4-tp gaming Channel

Fallout New Vegas the game is one of my absolute favorites - definitely all time top 5 for me. And of course a fan of Fallout 3 and 4. The first two games I have not played but I'm familiar with the lore. Having said that, when I heard about this series being produced I had very low expectations. But I was really surprised with this first episode in a very pleasant way. I agree with another comment on here that the tone and aesthetic was nicely captured and really looking forward to how the series progresses.

JJR10

Also: this is true of any Fallout game, but particularly Fallout 4 since... well, there's something early that they'd probably need some advice on... I'd recommend the first time playing be on a live stream in order to get rapid-fire tips and tricks and advice and guidance. Anyone who has played Fallout 4 probably knows exactly the early game... let's say, "encounter" that I'm talking about. I realize this is flirting with the area of spoilers but... they'll need some help. It's a pretty intense early game scenario, and if you've never played any games in this franchise, it's in your best interest to have people offering up advice on strategy for that part of the game.

Jeff K

The way our schedules are, it will be weekly, with the hope to drop 7 & 8 together.

Badd Medicine

Since the whole show is out already are you guys planning on doing the weekly release?

Jake Austin

Agreed on the small tweaks to some of the lore. Like, I get why purists of the game franchise might be prickly (I'm a big fan of the YouTube gamer Oxhorn, who specializes in Fallout lore, and I know he's been nitpicking a lot of stuff that seems trivial to me) about some of it, but it's also worth noting that this story takes place roughly a decade after Fallout 4, and a lot can happen in a decade that would shift things when it comes to the power structure of the Wasteland, factions, etc.

Jeff K

Yep. And in the end discussion, Oak is noting that it looks like a Jetsons version of the future, and that's absolutely spot on. It's basically taking, "Hey, remember what people in the '50s thought the future would look like?" and just making that the actual future for the games (and now the show).

Jeff K

Since y'all are asking in the end discussion: there were 122 vaults created across the country. (The one in Fallout 4, which I'm guessing is the game y'all are most likely to play, is Vault 111.)

Jeff K

As a full on hardcore fallout lore nerd, I can say that this show was exceptional, it does have some small lore issues, but it’s a drop in the ocean imo. Can’t wait to see the finale reaction

Cl4-tp gaming Channel

little background. fallout diverges from our timeline during or around ww2 instead of coming to fear atomic energy they began to use it in everyday things microwaves, oven, washers, dryers, tvs cars. in that time the microprocessor in our world was invented except in fallout it never was so electronic devices and everything involving a microprocessor looked bulky and big and just required more stuff to make it. the Cold War kinda never ended but this time china was the main enemy to the U.S. after the 2020's the resource wars began as the name says there was a resource war and the fighting began Alaska was invaded by the Chinese and the u.s annexed Canada to gain easier access and transportation to anchorage where there was a big battle with a secret weapon (play the games to find out) its October, 23 2077 the Great War begins and ends only mere hours later now no one knows who fired first! china? U.S.? that's a vey toned downed rundown and I might have missed or got stuff wrong but its the jist of it

Jake Austin

Yeah! April 25th, yall need to play!

Diego

The timing is great too (not surprising, I'm sure it's intentional on Bethesda's part), but I mentioned in the previous Fallout post that they announced they're releasing a next-gen update for Fallout 4 two weeks from today.

Jeff K

You guys should def play Fallout 4 on the arcade channel after this !

Gandheezy

So guys just to clarify one thing about the setting: the "pre-nukes" section is not in the past; it's actually 2077 (edit: I see y'all got there midway through the episode!). But this is an alternate reality in which microprocessors were never invented, and instead, we perfected nuclear power for, like, everything in our daily lives. Also: "What is that?" (the medicine Lucy injected herself with): that's a stimpak. That's what you use in the game to heal yourself. Also also: Walton, not Walter. But, you're far from being alone in that one. (edit: and you got there in the end, too! I should finish the watch before I comment... ha!) Also also also: Ghouls can't die of old age, which is why Walton's character is still alive. They can be killed (and boy oh boy, do you kill a lot of them in the games), but as long as they stay out of harm's way, they can live in perpetuity. Also also also also: Ella Purnell (Lucy) has SUCH a perfect American accent. She's British, but you'd never know. It's genuinely one of the better American accents I've heard from an English actor.

Jeff K

Heck yeah! Was about to continue binging the show, but I'll check out your full reaction first!

Shae (maorismurf)

I have not played Fallout 1 or Fallout 2, so while I'm familiar with the stories of those two, I'm not as up to speed on the lore of those ones as Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4. But, with that said: I think they absolutely nailed the tone and aesthetic, and while my hopes were high, through four episodes that I've watched, they've ABSOLUTELY lived up to what I wanted.

Jeff K

Let’s GOOOO!!

Alex Lutz

Movie suggestion:The Wailing(2016).Show suggestions: Severance(2022) and Twin Peaks(2 seasons+the return)
