Added 2024-04-08 01:11:12 +0000 UTCSo, who among us are fans of the original Roadhouse? This movie certainly had its unique narrative, sprinkled with a few nods to Patrick Swayze's classic. Remaking this film was always going to be a challenge, so, surprisingly, it was given the green light. Nevertheless, some of us found it to be an enjoyable watch and couldn't help but get swept up in the tale of Elwood Dalton. Quite an intriguing name choice, don't you think?
Jake Gyllenhaal certainly gave it his all with the material he had to work with. Conor McGregor seemed to be instructed to simply be himself and deliver a few lines. Daniela Melchior also managed to shine given her role's limitations. However, some characters failed to fully engage us.
On a positive note, the cinematography was impressive, and the shooting locations added to the film's appeal. Kudos to the choreography of the fight scenes and the realistic portrayal of punches. Despite its shortcomings, the film was entertaining. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on it.

I just couldn't help but go in originally comparing to the iconic version, but now I realize ok,.. this is total reimagined and I enjoy it way more now. Some of these shots are amazing. and yes I too, thought of One Crazy Summer. One my friends and I watched many times on VHS. And you all have to react to it on the channel that would be a lot of fun. There's some behind the scenes on youtube on how they shot those fight scenes etc. its pretty cool.. Also I love that Jake was cast. He has said Roadhouse was one of his favorite films growing up and He worked w/ Swayze on Darko, Swayze and his wife and him were really good friends and Jake said he wanted this to be a tribute to him, he has some easter egg tattoos in this as well honoring Patrick. And Diamond Dave.... "Opinions Vary"... 2 get outta here with that..:)

I haven't actually seen the original 🤫 probably because I had barely been born when it came out -- but I spent an enjoyable evening with him watching. He kept saying "its...different, but thats okay" and seemed to enjoy himself.

But I guess I got that wrong. Maybe I have to watch the intro again to see what your expectations were to get the full picture of your review. Your criticism is fair and of course it's okay to not like the movie. I was just taken aback by your review after Oak, Mason and Answer gave such positive feedback. And I have to say, regarding the characters I even agree with you. The only person I cared for was Dalton and maybe the girl from the book store. My main criticism wasn't directed at you but at the people on social platforms mentioned by Oak. I saw some reaction videos on YouTube and read some comments and with some of them I just thought "why are you here, watching this video about a movie that you don't like? Just to tell everyone that you hate it and that it is crap? Such a waste of time." So, yeah ... my first two sentences of my first comment were meant in a jokingly way because of the 180 turn of the mood.😊😉🤙🏻And I don't know if you've already seen it, but Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal would be more your alley then.😄😉

Yes, I wish they had a few lines from the first, but that was it. The story was predictable. The characters outside of Dalton were hard to invest in. I could go on more, but to answer your question, yes. I would've still had my criticisms about this Even if the original never existed 🤙😁

And then there was Diamond Dave. 😄😉 The question is, would you criticise the movie as harshly as you did, if the original Road House wouldn't exist? I don't like that people (and by that I don't mean any of you guys) these days sh*t on a movie before they even have seen it. Most people who hate this movie hate it because they already made up their mind before they watched it (although some of you thought it wasn't good, you tried to separate the two movies and saw the fun part of the movie). They act like the original Road House is a masterpiece, which it isn't. The most disrespectful part is, when people criticise Jake Gyllenhaal for not being Patrick Swayze. He didn't want to be and he didn't have to be. He did a great job with how he played the character. I understand when people don't like remakes. Do I refuse to watch the remake of Point Break? Hell yes. Do I go to YouTube to comment on every video that I refuse to watch the movie because it can't be anything else but sh*t? Do I do that with a movie I have seen and didn't like at all like Baywatch? No, I don't. I ignore the movie or forget about it and live on. The success this movie has proves all the haters wrong. The movie is for entertainment, for you to sit back and enjoy. Nothing more. So thanks for your fair critiques. Great reaction guys. When it first started I was thinking oh no, I'm going to hate this movie but as it continued, I realized at some point I actually got into the movie and was enjoying it. The end of the movie lost me a little bit, with some choice's I didn't love but overall enjoyed the ride.

Partially the mind numbing way, but there is good acting, fantastic camera movements, etc. This isn’t meant to be a “serious” movie and honestly, though the original Road House is a “classic”, it is so cheesy and equally as unrealistic as this movie is. I also INSTANTLY saw Moe (the nice biker) and thought he looked like he’d be Diamond Dave’s brother with The Answer’s joking charisma lol.
