exactly, season 1 is great but the pacing is my main issue and also knowing in hindsight the craziness that is to come, it just doesnt even compare to later seasons. Female titan arc is good but still has pacing issues with the 6 episode forest battle, bite episode is nice but if i had to trim down an episode it would be that one, I wouldnt trim anything from seasons 2-4 though which is why I believe those seasons are all basically perfect

When the show was first coming out, back in 2013, everyone and their mother watched Ilse's Notebook. It was a 4 year wait for season 2, so by the time it actually came, everyone who cared about the show had seen the OVAs. With hindsight everything looks like a spoiler. It's completely fine to watch. And then there's the Levi OVA's which don't even have debatable spoilers.

I say it fits best before 2x1, but some recommend watching the first episode of Season 2 first, then Isle's Notebook -- I'll be happy as long as it's in there early in the season. Not sure how far ahead y'all record, but hope you watch it! (It is on Crunchyroll with the other OADs / OVAs as the bizarrely-titled Season "S66", listed as "E1" among them.)

Dude I’m sorry but I completely disagree, season 2 is what makes you appreciate season 1. I mean.. the whole point of the show is literally told to you in those first few episodes of season 1. Growth is realizing that the many things that happened in season 1 are there to satisfy the hungry part of the brain, while season 2 is all about the point past hunger, and wanting to have something worth the sacrifice/pain. Knowledge. Integrity. It’s literally telling you there’s more out there than what’s right in front of you. The whole show is amazing.

Before watching Season 2, it's recommended to watch the first episode of the OADs "Ilse's Notebook" The OAD's are listed as a separate season 66 on Crunchyroll for me so hopefully they are there for you too. These are bonus episodes that were included with the DVD. The first episode is the most important one to watch before starting season 2. The other episodes provide some nice stories but aren't as crucial. It is safe for you to watch the first 5 episodes if you want, "The Sudden Visitor", "Distress" and "No Regrets" Part 1 & 2. Do not watch the last 3 Episodes listed under the OAD Season entitled "Lost Girls" as these were released after Season 2 and 3.

Congratulation on finishing the first season! It's quite a wild ride and I really enjoy listening to your theories. I wouldn't advise watching One Piece, since it will require more commitment than a marriage haha. There are lots of great one-off anime movie like Wolf Children and Perfect Blue. You guys might want to check those out.

In regards to the titan face at the very end, keep in mind this is the innermost wall of the three. Outside of that wall is still human territory, protected by the second wall, the second wall being where the battle of Trost from the first half of the season took place. So there should be no titans roaming around outside the wall Annie damaged.

I'd have to agree. I think season 1 has a few pacing issues and that's literally the worst thing I can say about it. It's still phenomenal, but something has to be in last place lol

Here’s an idea. I don’t want to delay season 2 at all. However, you could watch “Ilsa’s note book”, and “AoT in 9 minutes” (on YouTube) one week, then “no regrets” parts 1 and 2 the next week. Or if you don’t want to watch “AoT in 9 mins”. Maybe another 3 episode drop of “ilsa’s notebook” and no regrets 1+2. Then start season 2. Those are my suggestions.

These 3 OVA’s are cannon stories from Isayama, so they should get the full experience during their reaction cause that’s what we all here for in the first place. To see them react to the whole story of AOT, they only gonna run through it once on camera. I don’t get why some people keep telling them to skip these cannon OVAs, just because they have seen them. The guys haven’t, so let them watch too

I think the Female titan arc is one of the most well done arcs so I wouldn't place season 1 as last plus of course other scenes that im now shooketh by but won't expand on due to spoilers but either way everyone has their preferences ig.

Season 1 is just the beginning to this great story. And it's getting better and better. It's a full circle till the last episode of season 4. Everything matters, no unnecessary side stories, no bad plots. You're going to love these characters and I'm happy to re-watch it with you and your great ideas and opinions on this. So thank you. I really recommend 'No regrets' part 1 and 2, the backstory of Levi. Your going to love it.

Because season 1 mostly has pacing issues whilst season 2 has no issues with pacing and is strong all the way through. Some of the best episodes of the show are in season 2 while I wouldn’t put any season 1 episode in my top 30 rpisodes

Oak's example with the spider is actually really interesting, especially because we saw it in Mikasa's flashback episode. "This world is cruel, but it's also very beautiful." It's easy to hate something you don't understand. We don't know why the Titans eat humans, but it's enough for us to hate them and want them dead.

Aot is pure perfection from the very first episode. But my ranking of the seasons would be 4, 3, 2, and then 1. It just gets better and better with every episode and season & that doesn't mean at all that season 1 is boring or less interesting. It's just the whole buildup & context that you don't have yet in s1 (obviously) but it's all part of the same amazing story and every episode is important ❤️

When people say S1 is the “worst” (I believe) they actually mean the other seasons are that much better. This is still a great season, but it’s mostly set up. Other seasons contain the payoff, so naturally a lot of people have those at the top. So yeah, brace yourselves. Each season is better than the previous.

When you guys finish AoT at the end of the year..I‘d suggest you to watch either Vinland Saga or the Cyberpunk anime. Maybe Golden Kamuy. I think these anime suits you and your interests on tv shows the best. The biggest mainstream ones like JJK or Demon Slayer are not your cup of tea I think.
