I always asked myself, why not use the titans for 3d maneuvers if there aren't buildings around. But I noticed, it's a skill not all soldiers have. And it's flesh, so with the weight of the soldier, it can slip it off if not done well.

Her father mistook her admiration for Levi and her using the phrase "devote herself to him" as that they were planning to marry, but there was never anything that way on Levi's part. If you're not sure about something you're clarifying, maybe look it up first before potentially misleading the guys by accidentally spreading misinformation?

Only show that did it right was Dragonball - the Japanese are coping on that one. Death Note's a decent candidate too, but it's more of a 50/50 there, with the sub probably edging it out ever so slightly.

Its easy to say something in hindsight, that may not be the optimal viewing experience and the group has been very vocal on how they wish to watch media the way the creator intended is important to them.

There are no spoilers in any of them and Attack On Titan makes the most sense in release order. I would NOT recommend skipping either of those two for the simple fact they provide a lot of context and the story moves forward assuming the viewer has seen them.

2024-03-27 06:08:03 +0000 UTCTwo things to note. One is that Erwin is the Commander of the Scouts. Levi is a squad captain. This means that Levi take orders from Erwin. He is in charge of everyone. Yes, Levi is very competent in combat, but he doesn't do anything without the okay from Erwin or direct orders from Erwin. People usually think about it like Levi is the soldier and Erwin is the leader. Two, Levi has nice characterization so far. You guys might not remember but when we were first introduced to him, he held a bloody hand of a dying soldier and told him he'd carry on their cause. That's a big deal because we know from watching now that Levi is a clean freak and hates blood. We also see him give the patch to the soldier after losing his friend in this episode. Levi took that patch off of Petras jacket for himself, but realized the soldier needed it more. So, he gave him the patch and told him it was his friend's. He's actually a compassionate person even if his expressions don't say so. Don't fall into the trap of thinking he's heartless

You should definitely be watching No Regrets 1&2 before S2, and Ilse’s Notebook either before Season 2 or after S2 Episode 1. You’ll be missing plot points if you skip Ilse’s Notebook, and you’ll be missing 2 of the best AoT episodes there are by skipping No Regrets

I would say don’t feel pressured to watch any of them. They aren’t necessary to enjoy or understand the main story. They just give more backstory to different characters/aspects of the show.

In previous episodes they stated that in order to get to the basement (the goal of this expedition) they have to travel between wall Maria and wall Rose to reach Shiganshina (Eren's home - basement) but because Eren sealed the closest access point (the gate at Trost) they have to take the long way around that happens to run through the forrest of the giant trees.

Dubbing is a no in AOT. Emotion wise, dubbing quite on par with Japanese VA but the wordings they use..no..

Also the city where the basement is is still over run by titans from the day it fell and eren's mom was eaten. So they have to first figure out how to safely get there then seal both gates before it can be considered safe enough to go window shopping for information in a basement. Now throw the gov taking custody of eren and appearance of the female titan and all that other stuff on top of the that and you can see why its taking so long

Switching episode release orders just to get a bigger reaction for a scene feels kinda artificial to me. Feels kinda like a wash too, since it means less of a reaction for the same aspect of the scene in the OVA. Also feels it weirdly breaks up the story in S2, which is already a hectic enough timeline as it is, which may confuse them. Definitely understand that it places the “clue” closer to S2E2 though, which is the biggest argument for that order imo

The 57 expedition was this arc that y'all have been watching and the goal was to get to the basement, but the female titan appeared so that took priority. So thats why they're not yet at the basement! :)

It’s the only absolute must-watch OVA, and includes important plot points for Season 2 you guys should absolutely be aware of. It’s the only OVA written by Isayama, and is meant by the author to be watched between Season 1 and Season 2. Also recommend No Regrets 1&2 between S1 and S2, as they are amazing. Edit: these can be found on Crunchyroll in the Season titled “OAD’s”.

I would never say one is better than the other, just that I prefer the dub. It has nothing to do with how well you read. It’s just a matter of preference.

If you want to learn more about his past: there is an ova (like an "extra") about him and how he joined the scouts back in the day. Its 2 episodes long and really, really great. It helps to understand him and his skills a little better. I hope you guys watch it :) Its called "No regrets"

These are bonus episodes that came out on on DVD and are on Crunchyroll listed as a separate season in my region so they might be there for you too. If not, then its not a big deal, but they are some good episodes with some more backstory and some humor. However only watch the first 5 Episodes of the OAD after you finish Season 1 before you start Season 2. Episodes 6 and 7 should only be watched AFTER you finish Season 2. (Basically don't watch the episodes entitled "Lost Girls" until after Season 2) And Episode 8 for AFTER episode 49 in the middle of Season 3.

Eren's dad's basement is in Shiganshina which is a dristrict beyond wall Maria. So they would have had to go further into titan territory to go to the basement, its not on the way home :) .

2024-03-25 18:25:38 +0000 UTCJust noticed for the first time how Mikasa used the gear attaching herself to the titan itself to get to the neck but then she landed on ground really hard. So I understand better that Levi chose not to attack, he knew about the landing after the kill and would probably have risked his leg and injured himself badly. Also I think that he is walking on that injury later to channel his pain to the physical and keeping composure when Petra’s dad talks to him. That is so hard to rewatch. This episode is one that I appreciated a lot. Whoever hyped this show maybe didn’t say that what it shows isn’t gratuitous or all for fun and excitement. Do you often see in war movies soldiers tending to the corpses of the dead?
