There are light hearted anime but there is a lot of emotional anime that covers a lot of issues. One of the reasons it is was heavily censored in the US

Everything does have a purpose tho and when the dots start connecting itβs truly mind boggling, this story is really a modern masterpiece that I would argue stands with the giants like game of thrones and breaking bad
