And since it didn´t occur to me before I want to mention that Eren´s last name Jäger(often phonetically written as "Yaeger") means Hunter in german. And upon googling Eren stems from Turkish and means "wise" or "saint". :D

2024-02-05 18:36:22 +0000 UTCIt's not that everyone DONT want to help those getting caught and eaten, it's that they CAN'T help without dying themselves. They're more or less out of gas, they don't know which burst will be their last, and once they're grounded they're done for. They can't outrun the titans, can't hide in buildings from them (the building will just get either destroyed and otherwise fall on top of them.) - so I think it's very harsh to judge them for being scared, for freezing up. Jean did say DON'T GO! 2 times, but people didn't listen and it caused more death then not. And everyone there are still recruits, they're not officially soldiers yet and they're definitely not veterans with the experience to take proper action or make wise choices. Granted I can't blame those who jumped in to try to save their comrades either, they just paid for that bravery with their life. I'm 100% certain if everyone jumped in, I think every one of them would've died in that situation.
