If this is a first watch for you Seeing Pavel and the others going door to door and removing animals was an incredibly tough watch and contrasted beautifully with the heart-pounding segment on the roof. The abundance of long shots and the ominous musical score underlines the seriousness and bleak reality of the situation.

2024-02-05 03:17:12 +0000 UTCThis episode is just stunning and at least in my opinion, also the saddest. Just very hard to watch and almost makes you want to drink as much as the soldiers. But it also contains the one dramatization that I really can't stand. Radiation doesn't wander from a mother to her child, that simply isn't how it works. Her baby died due to radiation, but that's simply because a baby is unsurprisingly less resistant to all sorts of stuff, including radiation. The mother got the same amount, it's just that an adult can survive a lot better. Given that they are real people, I dislike them making up a story about how the baby essentially "took a bullet" for the mother. She probably had a rough enough time already without an untrue telling making things even worse. Anyway, thanks for the great reaction, awesome as always.

A side bit of info if you guys weren't aware, the actor who plays Valery Legasov is Jared Harris who just happens to be the son of Richard Harris, the late great actor who played Dumbledore in the first 2 Harry Potter films.
