It sounds like sci-fi, it sounds like cutting edge, future tech, cool visuals, etc. I went into this one blind too and saw it cause the name was cool lol

2024-01-26 04:18:59 +0000 UTCOak isn't wrong in that the Author of the book the movie is based on did get the idea off of dying over and over in a video game but progressing further each time because of new info lol :) there's no sequel for the book, in so far, so not sure what a sequel to the movie would be about, but its in limbo with blunt recently saying it might not happen at all because of how long its been. I enjoyed the movie though, different ending then the book but otherwise not bad

2024-01-25 17:25:10 +0000 UTCIf Tom never gets Tazed and then wakes up on the airbase because the invasion gets cancelled, then he "resets" back to the last time he woke up that actually happened. Which was the day before the invasion.

If I'm remembering correctly, it was believed that the name of the movie hindered its success at the time. People didn't understand "Edge of Tomorrow." When it came out on Blu-ray/DVD, they attempted to rebrand it as "Live. Die. Repeat." In any case, it's an awesome movie!

2024-01-25 05:02:45 +0000 UTCAlso for the ending, the Omega tried to reset back to the day before the invasion so it lived but failed to do so. The Omega can't reset on its own, it needs and Alpha to trigger a reset. Without an Alpha dying, the Omega can't do anything. And in the end, the Omega died before the Alpha which is why it couldn't reset and Tom lived long enough to absorb the blood of both. This means that Tom can reset as well as trigger a reset because he has both blood. And since he launched the final attack on the same day he was jailed, it reset to that day instead of the day of the beach invasion. There is also a popular theory that he never lost the Alpha blood. How would they know? Emily says so but there isn't a way to test that because if it was true, she wouldn't be revived to tell it. He possibly lied to further try and protect her. If you rewatch the scenes post blood transfusion, Tom gives his speech yet knows exactly when Emily is going to come in. On the plane he tells her the others aren't coming and while she is sad he isn't. He knows to take the controls when the one guy gets yanked out, and he knows barreling through the concrete wall would work/not kill them instantly. He was still resetting and new what was going to happen.

In MI, I believe MI4 is when stuff started to go wrong at every turn, but he could adapt. Here, Tom was human. Also, the sequel is finally in the works! I love Tom and Emily together and I hope we get more movies with them. Another great Tom movie is Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz. It is another good movie you guys should watch!

Im watching the discussion rn and i know you guys kindda figured it out already, but think as the omega as a being that exists in different time points at the same time, doing "backups" so alphas can be brought back. The point where Tom goes back at the end is probably where that omega made the first backup in that location or something like that. There are countless theorys on how that works, but this one is what makes more sense for me. Tom didnt got the Omega power for himself in the end, he just was reseted to the first backup in time where the omega was dying.

I'm so glad you guys went in blind and got to experience this rollercoaster too. And no worries Oak and Dave, I also missed the 'Omega Blood' thing the first time I watched and only caught it this time watching with yall 😂 And to answer Oak's question at the end — yes when this came out it was very commonly compared to Groundhog Day.

Then you see Tom Cruise actually having the power to come back after getting killed so many times. And then he loses it and everything is incredibly tense now, because now everything counts. It's awesome.

It's an excellent movie and worth temporarily putting tradition on hold for just one evening 👍🏻 Can't wait to see what the verdict is on this one for Answer, Dave, and Oak 🤘🏻
