EARLY ACCESS: Oppenheimer FULL REACTION
Added 2023-12-22 21:05:33 +0000 UTCChristopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" is a technical masterpiece that showcases the director's experimental prowess. Filmed in black and white on IMAX, Nolan skillfully explores subjectivity and objectivity, delivering a clever and bold cinematic experience.
The film delves into the intricacies of Oppenheimer's life, with meticulous attention to detail. While the initial 30 minutes may feel slow to some, Nolan adds his signature twist, enhanced by Ludwig Göransson's intelligent and superb musical composition.
Cillian Murphy's portrayal of Oppenheimer is nothing short of phenomenal, capturing the scientist's bold thoughts and leadership with finesse. Nolan adeptly conveys the tension among characters and unfolding events, making the narrative both smart and intriguing. Robert Downey Jr. surprises audiences with a departure from his usual roles, delivering a commendable performance as Lewis Strauss. Emily Blunt shines as the biologist and Oppenheimer's wife, making wise decisions at crucial moments. Matt Damon, as the general, impresses with a portrayal of greed, courage, and doubt. Rami Malek, in a pivotal role as David Hill, surprises and excels in his limited screen time, leaving a lasting impact. Florence Pugh, as Jean, delivers a fair performance, complementing the ensemble cast. Ludwig Göransson's music stands out as the soul of the film, providing an intense and intellectual backdrop.
Christopher Nolan's direction elevates "Oppenheimer" beyond a conventional biopic. The film retains Nolan's trademark twist, making it a challenging and intriguing addition to his diverse body of work, leaving all of us enthralled and appreciative of the cinematic journey.

2024-01-01 21:22:55 +0000 UTCIdk how I missed this buuuuut great cinematography, score and script. This was shot so immaculate and even better then Interstellar which is one of my favorite movies. Although I prefer the story and score better with interstellar I cant deny this was shot so much better.

2023-12-29 22:08:29 +0000 UTCThis was the 6th time that I have watched this masterpiece. 3 times in theatre and 3 times on Blu-Ray. I was fortunately blessed with the opportunity to watch Oppenheimer in IMAX and it was one of the best cinema experiences that I've ever had!

2023-12-26 05:41:08 +0000 UTCI will agree with you on that💀 I’m very biased towards Joaquin phoenix tbh, if anyone else played napoleon I don’t think I would have enjoyed it anywhere near the amount I did

2023-12-25 14:44:06 +0000 UTCRespectfully, Napoleon being mentioned in the same sentence as the other two is insane. Great directing and action sequences, but nowhere near the level of the other two films.

2023-12-25 14:41:41 +0000 UTCAnother movie you guys should watch when it gets released on digital is Poor Things with Emma Stone. Its the 2nd best movie of the year after Oppenheimer and will likely be its biggest competition at the Oscars.

2023-12-23 04:34:15 +0000 UTCMan it was great watching this again. It was a real treat getting to watch it in theaters and the sound design was incredible. One of the craziest and funniest things to me is that fact that for years we were working on this and there was a non-zero chance that we literally could have destroyed everything. That's wild to me. As for the Truman/Oppenheimer meeting, all evidence seems to indicate it happened. In fact, both versions that I've heard were actually even worse than Nolan depicted. Some stories have Truman stating something to the effect of 'I don't ever want to see that fucking cretin in my sight again' and other reports have him saying that he 'never want to see that son of a bitch' in his office again. He also apparently stayed that he had no use for hand wringing and later on did call him the crybaby scientist because he was adamant that the decision and responsibility was on him.

2023-12-23 03:25:20 +0000 UTCI’ve seen this movie 4 times now and it honestly gets better every time I’ve watched it, but the imax screen i saw it on was a different level of experience, when the rumbling sound design happens at the start of the movie with the prometheus quote im being serious when i say I thought the walls of the cinema were gonna collapse with the vibrations 😂 it was amazing, the atomic blast after the minute of silence also nearly made me shit my pants

2023-12-23 01:52:19 +0000 UTCGreat movie and loved seeing it on Opening night. After watching your reaction I could see a big question of yours was on the Truman Oppenheimer meeting, which was disastrous to say the least. It soured their opinion of each other for sure. What Truman said to Oppenheimer after he said he had blood on his hands, during and after that conversation has been embellished by President Truman a little bit, but it is known that he called Oppenheimer a crybaby and his comments to Dean Atcheson to not let him back there again seems to be true. I recommend reading American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin, a culmination of decades of research. I believe it's the main book that Christopher Nolan would source to. I'd also recommend Dan Carlins podcast episode 59 Destroyer of Worlds on Hardcore History, be careful it's a 6 hr episode though lol, if I remember right.

2023-12-23 01:06:39 +0000 UTCGood point. They didn't glorify it.
Badd Medicine
2023-12-23 00:50:52 +0000 UTCIt was still given the usual hollywood glam, but I appreciate that they didn't glorify Oppenheimer as much as they could have, he was still a fallible man who was very smart and had multiple affairs while married

2023-12-22 22:41:27 +0000 UTCYeah honestly same, however when I saw interstellar in theaters I felt the same way lol. That's still my favorite movie ever so who knows Nolan may top himself yet again. Felt that way when I watched Dark Knight in theaters too.
