EARLY ACCESS: Scott Pilgrim Takes off 1x2 FULL REACTION

Witnessing the ascent of one of the lowest-ranked members of a villainous group to power is undeniably satisfying. The climax of the first episode hinted at a departure from the traditional Scott Pilgrim storyline, especially with Scott's defeat, sparking curiosity about the direction of this adaptation. The retribution served to Gideon was particularly compelling.

Gideon's abrupt plea for forgiveness, despite openly admitting to exploiting the league members to win Ramona, appeared contradictory after his loss to Matthew. While some fans might feel disappointed in Gideon's end result, it underscores the creative team's willingness to take risks and introduce fresh scenarios.

The stylish and entertaining battle between Matthew and Gideon, showcasing different techniques, lacked some of the intensity compared to the battles in the 2010 film. Nevertheless, the unexpected showdown for leadership between Matthew and Gideon adds an element of surprise to the series. Overall, another enjoyable episode of Scott Pilgrim: Takes Off. Looking forward to seeing how Ramona will navigate challenges and potentially rescue Scott.

"Now he wants to destroy everything that made the original good because it gets him brownie points with the leftists" You "made no claim?" Newsflash. This is a claim. I think your claim was batshit insane so I responded with incredulity. You respond with "Now I know you're not an idiot, so how about you stop trying to be? You know exactly what I'm talking about, and pretending to play dumb just makes you seem disingenuous and further validates what I'm saying." To any third party, this is a CERTIFIABLY INSANE response to someone who is flabbergasted by what you've written. "you KNOW what I'm talking about" makes a lot of assumptions, on top of which you imply that anyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot. It's clear you're wacko, but I want to find out exactly what kind of wacko. So I ask you to explain your claim. "What are you, dense? The entire reason that you're even commenting is because you know what I'm saying and you object to it. You're just too much of a coward to say it up front because you've never once in your life defended or tried to rationalize your beliefs. " LMAO that is ACTUALLY YOU. You're TELLING ON YOURSELF. Mr. "I don't want to say what I believe so I'll accuse THEM of doing what I'm doing." is textbook projection and deflection. It's, to borrow your terms, cowardice and unrationalized beliefs. So you actually know exactly what you're trying to hide. And the fact that it's taken THIS LONG and you still haven't been straight with me makes it clear as day you're secretly ashamed of stating your viewpoints. You couch it in vagueries, and dogwhistles. It's clear as day that you're delulu, but we don't know exactly what flavor or variation of whackjob you are, so I asked you to sack up and tell us. "Nah, not projecting, just not interested in deflection" You actually wrote that? Unironically? LMAO You've done nothing but shift goalposts and project and deflect to avoid answering what I asked you. Which, once again, was: -What made the original good? -How does this series destroy it? -What makes it leftist? "I honestly have no clue why you're defending a bunch of talentless hacks. They're not gonna fuck you, bro." I'm not defending the show. I'm trying to figure out what flavor of chud you are. I'm bisexual, I have no problems getting laid either way. But maybe you're so pissed off because you can't.

hurryupmode

Nah, not projecting, just not interested in deflection. We were on a different subject and only NOW are you interested in asking me to substantiate some non-existent claim? And make no mistake, it's a non-existent claim. I mad no claim, I simply shared my opinion. You're the one that's getting so butthurt over someone else having a different opinion, because you apparently can't tolerate the concept that someone doesn't agree with you. You know the answer to each of your questions because you said it yourself: you want to hear me say it. You already know what "it" is. You asking me these questions is just you trying an underhanded way to get me to say it. I honestly have no clue why you're defending a bunch of talentless hacks. They're not gonna fuck you, bro.

Marco Gutierrez

Projection, much? Let's dissect what you wrote: -What made the original good? -How does this series destroy it? -What makes it leftist? You made the claim, but you didn't explain it. The onus of proof is on you. You just assumed we would know what you're talking about. Lay it all out for us. If you're not, as you wrote, "too much of a coward".

hurryupmode

I already did. What are you, dense? The entire reason that you're even commenting is because you know what I'm saying and you object to it. You're just too much of a coward to say it up front because you've never once in your life defended or tried to rationalize your beliefs.

Marco Gutierrez

Nah, I really don't know wtf you're talking about. Let's dissect what you wrote: -What made the original good? -How does this series destroy it? -What makes it leftist?

hurryupmode

Now I know you're not an idiot, so how about you stop trying to be? You know exactly what I'm talking about, and pretending to play dumb just makes you seem disingenuous and further validates what I'm saying.

Marco Gutierrez

"destroy everything that made the original good because it gets him brownie points with the leftists" bruh what?

hurryupmode

Nah, not really. He has the same name, but he isn't the same person. It's The Last of Us 2 all over again. In the time between the original came out and this "sequel", the original creator has fallen into a political ideology and let that infect their original work. Now he wants to destroy everything that made the original good because it gets him brownie points with the leftists that he wants to cater to. The story bears no resemblance of the original's charm. I have no clue how you're not able to see this.

Marco Gutierrez

The person who wrote the original comics is behind this new show. It's his ideas.

Lauren Seltzer

Yeah as a couple others have said this is completely new material and I think has no connection whatsoever to the original. After the initial charm that I felt in the first episode, this is going in exactly the wrong direction in my opinion. It feels like the low quality garbage that I've come to expect from Netflix with regards to storytelling or writing. They've ruined the Witcher, they've ruined Shadow and Bone, they've ruined Stranger Things, and so many others. I'm tired of seeing low talent hacks getting hired because of their political views and then being put in charge of all of these things they have no business touching.

Marco Gutierrez

Actually, throwing in an idea, 4 player Scott Pilgrim game playthrough for whenever the video game channel happens? 😄 It's basically a 2D arcade-style beat-'em-up similar to River City Ransom, Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, etc.

ICARUS

Love that you guys are enjoying this! Like one of the other comments said, this is totally new content. 😄 The movie, comics, and game are more similar to one another but each very distinct in their own ways. Honestly, each medium they've done for Scott Pilgrim has been kind of its own different take on the story. 😂 To answer one of the questions earlier on in the reaction; the first book released in August of 2004, with the final volume (#6) releasing in July of 2010. The final book wasn't done while the movie was being worked on either, with the movie hitting theaters just a month after the last volume released. The Scott Pilgrim game released just 3 days before the movie as well lol.

ICARUS

Is mission impossible still dropping today?

Camity

I read the comics a long time ago, and from what I can remember about them this is totally new material, the comics are similar to the movie with some extra scenes and extra context about the characters, this story took a totaly diferent turn from the source material I remember

Carolina M

this is based off the novels not the movie
