He never lands a single blow and spends the entire time running until the other three come to his aid. I also love that Zaheer really is a man of principle. He walks into Ba Sing Se, says he's a liberator, and then leaves. He says no airbenders will get hurt, and the only ones who do are those who fight back. He truly believes what he says.
